Regarding Youtube Sifu Dale Dugas Iron Body Demonstration Zhang San Feng Festival 2008.

Why doesn't he get someone to hit him his own size, or larger? How about a longshoremen, biker or football defensive lineman? Those men can take hits also, some better than Dale, without Dale's methods.

Most of the strikes are partially deflected, many more are glancing blows after Dale partially evaded them. He uses a bunch of runt students.

OK for 100 days if he was a creempuff before, but not much to show for anything past that.

Jacket thickness is suspect of padding, since no one else uses it. That should have been foreseen.

There may be a mistake in the translation of what Dale does and calls 'Iron Shirt';
there is a consonant that appearrs twice in HIS phrase, and should be silent on the second iteration, as the 'k' is in knife.

I agree that it's much cooler when a smaller individual does Iron Body, but you can't just rule someone out because they're bigger. Simply put, some martial artists are big boys and it's hard finding people that are the same size to demonstrate with them. We run into that problem now and again when doing shoots and such.

Shi Guolin (see my 2000 August cover story - A Diamond of the Fruitful Forest: Shaolin Temple Overseas and Monk Shi Guolin) is a big guy too. We had a whole bunch of dudes hit him when he demonstrated for our 10th Anniversary.

I think this is a publicity stunt by Dale. He is creating badmouthers to get him more attention, thus increasing revenue flow, thus increasing his ho's and gin and juice. And his smoke...of course.

Go to any football team, bike club, or pro-wrestlers, to find big guys, or are you afraid of them?

Dale's size was one of many factors showing why he could take this patty cake, the others not even addressed are:

1) thickness of uniform
2) most of the strikes are partially deflected,
3) many more are glancing blows after Dale partially evaded them.
4) blows are not that strong to begin with.

If size is the main are of contention, there are other sources:
1) a state champion in Tae Kwon Do, delivering a side kick,
2) a state champion in Shotokan, delivering a front kick, or
3) a seasoned Golden Gloves or professional boxer in the same weight class.

All wrestling and boxing matches are categorized by weight ranges, this is the standard, and not to do so is unreasonable, unsportsmanlike, and unprofessional.

If someone wants to go around showing off on stage, go ahead, the best do not perform in public, only to their students and friends.

Key ingredients are never listed on the package, and the best keep their skills to themselves, not strutting around like some pea****.

A crybaby whines whenever criticized, and his momma and girl friends all come to tell him everything is OK.

A man takes it and deals with the issues and facts, one by one.

I thought the video was good. Dale took some decent punches that would put most keyboard warriors on the floor. No demo is perfect. Give the guy a break. You apparently have an ax to grind. Put up a better iron shirt video or go grind the ax on someone you CAN out perform.
