Well, you just gotta respect Sammo Hung.
With the amount of weight that guy carries around, he can sure MOVE!

1940's - 1950's: Shek Kin (Mr. Han) In his younger days, he could move! A Law Horn stylist who learnt from Grandmaster Sun, Yu-Feng, he is the most prolific northern sil lum martial artist. You gotta rent some of his old blk & white movies; they are classics.

1960's: I cannot remember much of the sixties, except for Ed Parker on the Lucy Show... and Bruce Tegner books
Fresca soft drink tasted much better then.

1970's: Bruce Lee and Angela Mao(period)

1980's: Jackie Chan in redubbed Japanese versions (music is more in sync). Fu Sheng and et al in the Nam Sil Lum Shaw films. The Lau Bros. for all the Hung Gar movies...

1990's: Jet Lee in the later movies - the dark ones like the "Black Mask." Michelle Yeoh who can kick Jackie's butt...can kick mine also.

Hmmmm... I never really enjoyed Bruce Lee movies. I mean, he can move well and all, but the films themselves as films were just atrocious. Anyone else notice how Chuck used to be all furry and now he's smooth?

For my money, Stephen Chiao is the man. Hong Kong's martial arts comedian and star of such greats as Hail the Judge, King of Beggars, Forbidden City Cop, and the greatest flick of all time, God of Cookery.

After Stephen, I'll take Jet Li, though again I tend to prefer him in the funnier ones like Fong Sai Yuk, Last Hero in China, Tai Chi Master, and Kung Fu Cult Master. He's really well suited to comedy but is often cast too seriously.

After Jet, give me the early team ups with Jackie, Sammo, and Biao. Those were just a lot of fun.

At the bottom of my list would be pretty much every american martial arts film ever made with the possible exceptions of Only the Strong and the Matrix (which is really a Hong Kong film anyway)
