    MMA'S JOSH COPELAND HORRIFIC ARREST
... Allegedly Punched Wife In Face

MMA's Josh Copeland Arrested After Allegedly Punching Wife in Face
    EXCLUSIVE

MMA fighter Josh Copeland -- who just fought (and lost) in the $1 MILLION match at PFL 11 -- was arrested for domestic violence after allegedly punching his wife so hard in the face, he left her bloodied and bruised.

It's all detailed in the police report obtained by TMZ Sports ... law enforcement in Adams County, Colorado raced to the couple's home on Feb. 2 after reports of an attack.

When they arrived at the home, Copeland's wife had "an obvious bruise on her left eye, a cut and was bleeding. There was blood down the front of her face and neck."

Copeland's wife said the two had been arguing -- when 36-year-old Josh pushed her so she pushed him back.

The two continued to attack each other -- with Copeland's wife admitting she slapped him in the face multiple times.

Finally, Copeland's wife said the 6'1", 265-pound fighter "then punched her in the face" and threw her on the bed. She says Copeland also took her phone so she couldn't call for help. Cops say they later found her phone in Josh's pocket.

Cops say Josh had redness and blood on his face -- but did not remember punching his wife.

Copeland's wife was transported to a nearby hospital. Josh was arrested and booked for second-degree assault, obstruction and child abuse ... since the whole incident allegedly took place in front of their child.

Copeland is due back in court next week.

Copeland is 18 and 6 as a pro-MMA fighter -- and even had a stint in the UFC in 2014 and 2015.

He fought his way into the $1 MILLION championship fight in the PFL heavyweight tournament -- but ultimately lost to Philipe Lins on Dec. 31, 2018.
Not a good start to this year.

    Tyler Schlusser

Doesn't seem like an alleged fight. Seems like an alleged MMA fighter.

    'MMA fighter' allegedly fights deputies

A Cumberland County man claiming to be a mixed martial arts fighter allegedly struggled with deputies over the weekend, sending one of them to a hospital with arm injuries, authorities said.

On Saturday, Feb. 23, the York County Sheriff's Office filed charges alleging Tyler James Schlusser fought with five deputies after he was arrested on a DUI charge in Carroll Township.

Schlusser said he was an MMA fighter and fought and spit on multiple deputies while he was in custody at the county's central booking unit early Saturday morning, according to court documents.

Schlusser, 28, of the 500 block of East Street in Carlisle, is charged with five counts of felony aggravated harassment by prisoner charges, five counts of misdemeanor simple assault, one count of aggravated assault, and a summary harassment charge.

Incident: Carroll Township Police brought Schlusser to central booking about 3 a.m. so he could be processed on a DUI charge, court documents state.

At about 4:45 a.m., a deputy removed Schlusser from a holding cell to use the phone to make a call for a ride, officials said.

He became "extremely agitated," that he could not use his own cell phone, so he began to shout profanities at four deputies, court documents state.

Authorities said the deputies tried to escort him back to his holding cell, but he began resisting and held onto a door frame until they were able to get him into the cell.

A deputy tried to remove Schlusser's cuff through a cuff port in his cell door, but Schlusser pulled away and continued to shout profanities, charging documents state.

Deputies arrived: A corporal arrived and told Schlusser to put his hands out so his cuffs could be removed, and he then told them he was an MMA fighter before telling them to get the cuffs, officials said.

Four deputies entered the cell to take the cuffs from Schlusser, but he began resisting, documents state. A fifth deputy arrived with an emergency restraint chair to help.

While they were struggling to get control of Schlusser, he spit on three deputies while his lip was bleeding, according to charging documents. He also grabbed a deputy's wrist and attempted to twist them in a "breaking motion," officials said.

Another deputy had to hit Schlusser in the face so he could let go of the deputy's wrist, the sheriff's office said.

After that, deputies were able to get Schlusser into the emergency restraint chair, and he was checked on every 15 minutes, according to court documents.

Schlusser was arraigned on the charges Saturday morning. He was sent to York County Prison on $75,000 bail. He remains there as of Wednesday, Feb. 27.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 26 at District Judge Linda Williams' office.

Carroll Township Police have not filed a DUI charge against Schlusser as of Wednesday morning.

According to an arrest report, McGregor and the fan were walking out of the resort, home to the LIV nightclub, just past 5 a.m. When the fan tried taking a photo with his cell, McGregor “slapped” the phone out of his hand, then stomped on it several times, the report said.

McGregor picked up the phone, valued at $1,000, and walked away with it, police said.

The incident was captured on surveillance video. McGregor was not arrested at the scene, but detectives spent the day investigating and later found him at a Miami Beach home on North Venetian Drive.

McGregor, a former two-division Ultimate Fighting Championship title holder who famously fought and lost to boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in August 2017, was booked into a Miami-Dade jail on Monday night. He posted bond and was released from Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center just after 10 p.m.

His Miami defense lawyer, Samuel Rabin, said in a statement that his client “was involved in a minor altercation involving a cell phone that resulted in a call to law enforcement. Mr. McGregor appreciates the response of law enforcement and pledges his full cooperation.”

The colorful Irish fighter has been in South Florida on vacation as he prepares for his UFC comeback. A few days ago, he shared Instagram photos of a night out at the Versace Mansion on South Beach, where he celebrated his mother’s 60th birthday.

McGregor was arrested nearly one year ago in New York City after police said he attacked a charter bus carrying several UFC fighters, throwing a dolly through the window. The attack happened after a media day for UFC 223.

He was initially charged with two felonies, but ended up pleading guilty to a disorderly conduct charge. His sentence: three days of anger management courses, and five days of community service.

HONOLULU - A Hawaii mixed martial arts fighter pleaded no contest Thursday to assaulting his wife, a fellow fighter who said he left her with a fractured eye socket.

Arnold Berdon is expected to be sentenced to probation.

His wife, Rachael Ostovich Berdon, filed for a temporary restraining order in November, alleging her husband punched her in the head, face and ribs. He punched her after a night out with family and she fell to the ground, gasped for air and escaped through a balcony, according to her petition for an order of protection. She said she coughed up blood and threw up several times.

Police arrested Berdon on a charge of second-degree attempted murder. Prosecutors later charged him with second-degree assault.

Judge Trisha Morikawa told Berdon, 28, he will likely avoid jail time if he does well in a domestic violence intervention program. "I'm going to do well," he told the judge.

The maximum sentence is five years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for May 16.

Berdon said after the hearing that he decided to plead no contest to spare his family from a legal battle. He said he and his wife are divorcing. They have a daughter.

When asked about his future as an MMA fighter he said, "I'll do whatever God wants me to do."

Ostovich Berdon initially canceled a fight against Paige VanZant but later decided to go through with it, saying she was healing.

"I'm satisfied that Arnold is accepting responsibility for his actions and getting the needed help so that he can be the best father to our daughter," Ostovich Berdon said in a statement through her attorney, Lanson Kupau.

    Tony Ferguson

Ferguson is referenced here but not busted before, at least not as recorded on this thread.

Wife of UFC fighter Tony Ferguson files restraining order after police visits to home
    Steven Marrocco, MMA Junkie Published 7:07 p.m. ET March 14, 2019 | Updated 7:12 p.m. ET March 14, 2019

The wife of former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson on Wednesday filed a restraining order against her husband, alleging domestic violence.

According to online records, Cristina Ferguson filed the restraining order in Orange County (Calif.) Superior Court. An ex-parte hearing took place the same day. The court’s domestic violence prevention services project has scheduled an investigation for March 22; a domestic violence hearing is scheduled for April 5.

Details were not immediately available on the specific allegations made by Cristina Ferguson. The court’s definition of a domestic violence restraining order is an “order that helps protect people from abuse or threats of abuse from someone they have a close relationship with.”

MMA Junkie obtained five police incident reports that detail several domestic disturbances at the Ferguson residence since January 2018, including three in the past month. The police reports were redacted to protect certain identifying information. Tony Ferguson wasn’t arrested or charged with a crime in any of those situations.

MMA Junkie was unable to reach Cristina Ferguson or her attorney of record for comment. Tony Ferguson’s management, Paradigm Sports, issued a statement to MMA Junkie: “This is a private family matter that is in the process of being resolved.”

The restraining order was filed less than one week after six police units were dispatched to the Ferguson home in Santa Ana. Cristina Ferguson told police she was at her parent’s house in La Mirada this past Friday when Tony Ferguson took their 2-year-old son back to their house and changed the locks on the doors, according to a police report. She said she didn’t fear for the child’s safety, and officers left after determining there was no custody order and no crime committed.

On Feb. 19, police conducted a welfare check on Tony Ferguson after he made unknown threats, and his wife and son left their house, according to a separate police report. Police spoke to an unidentified female who stated Tony Ferguson had “not slept for three days and was tearing apart the home” and “broke apart the fire place and believed someone placed a (computer) chip in his leg.” An unidentified male who’d called the police said the fighter had told him “someone was inside his walls.” Nearly two hours after the police made contact, Cristina Ferguson told police her husband’s trainer couldn’t get him to leave the house to see a doctor.

Just three days earlier, on Feb. 16, Cristina Ferguson called police from a nearby park after leaving their home. She said that, while Tony Ferguson hadn’t been violent to her or anyone else, she was concerned for her husband’s well being. In police comments on the incident report, she reported that “he kept throwing ‘holy water’ at her,” and his condition — redacted in the report — had been getting worse. He’d also refused to go to a hospital for an evaluation.

When officers showed up to the their house, one advised Tony Ferguson to see a doctor. He agreed to go and was not deemed a danger to himself or others. But Cristina Ferguson was advised to take their child to her parents’ house.

In more than one police report, officers note Ferguson is a UFC fighter and owns a taser. They are also advised to send multiple units for any calls.

In January 2018, police were called on two separate occasions for family disturbances. Ferguson’s father reported his son was “out of control” and kicked him out of the house. Tony Ferguson also reported Cristina Ferguson missing overnight.

The restraining order against Tony Ferguson comes on the heels of UFC President Dana White commenting on “personal issues” facing the fighter. When asked by a fan about Ferguson’s absence from the octagon, White said he’s “dealing with a lot of personal issues right now and can’t fight. Hopefully things turn around for him and he can get back in there.”

Ferguson, who’s won his past 11 fights, hasn’t competed since a second-round TKO win over Anthony Pettis last October at UFC 229. Ferguson was in line for a title shot against lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov. But after Nurmagomedov was issued a nine-month suspension for his role in an infamous melee at UFC 229, the promotion’s plans for the division stalled. White has since indicated Nurmagomedov might first do a rematch with Conor McGregor, who was arrested this week in Miami after allegedly smashing and stealing a fan’s phone.

Late last month, the promotion announced an interim lightweight title fight between featherweight champ Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier for April 13 at UFC 235. White later said Ferguson turned down the fight with Poirier, adding that the decision hurt his immediate title hopes.

“Tony didn’t want the fight. It’s the fight I wanted (with Poirier). We even tried to make the fight (with Holloway), and he didn’t want it,” White said. “You can’t make anybody fight.”

Ferguson has since called for fights with McGregor and Nurmagomedov, calling for the champ to defend or vacate the belt.

Cedric Marks indicted on burglary charge
BY DEBORAH McKEON FME News Service Mar 14, 2019

    Cedric Marks

BELTON — Killeen resident Cedrick Joseph Marks, 44, was indicted Wednesday for the alleged burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony.

No indictments were listed for the two Jan. 3 homicides with which he is charged — those of Jenna Scott, 28, and Michael Swearingin, 32, both of Temple.

Marks reportedly broke into Scott’s Temple home on Aug. 21, 2018, and threatened her and her daughter.

Officers were sent to the 7000 block of Redbrush for a domestic disturbance call after Scott went to the police department and said Marks, her ex-boyfriend, broke into her house, according to an arrest affidavit for Marks’ burglary charge.

Scott heard the house alarm say “garage door,” which meant the door between the garage and house was open. When Scott went to look, she reportedly found Marks in the house, although he wasn’t supposed to be there. Marks reportedly took her cellphone out of her hand and threw it out of reach, the affidavit said. Scott yelled at her daughter to call 911. Marks ordered Scott to tell her daughter to hang up and slide the phone under the door.

Marks told Scott to drop charges against him for assault family violence crimes pending in Killeen, and reminded her she also had charges filed against her. He reportedly said it was her word against his, and he had friends at the Killeen Police Department. The affidavit said he threatened Scott by saying, “you know what I am capable of . . . your entire family and all of your friends will need witness protection if you call the police.”

A doorbell video Scott gave officers showed Marks go up to the front door and then walk out of sight toward the garage.

The break-in was a violation of the temporary protective order granted against Marks by Bell County 246th District Court Judge Paul LePak. Scott sought a two-year order against Marks that was denied Sept. 17 by LePak.

Marks had a warrant for his arrest on the burglary charge, and was captured in Michigan at the home of his wife, Ginell McDonough — who reportedly hid Marks and his girlfriend, Maya Maxwell, from law enforcement agencies.

After he waived extradition, arrangements were made to transport Marks back to Bell County to face the burglary charge.

Marks escaped the transport company’s custody in Conroe, and then a warrant was issued for him for capital murder of multiple persons — Scott and her 32-year-old friend, Michael Swearingin, also of Temple. Marks was captured after a 9-hour manhunt by 17 law enforcement agencies. He was brought back by the Bell County Sheriff’s Department and members of the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Task Force.

He reportedly killed Scott and Swearingin at a Killeen residence, and Maxwell was there when the killings were done, she told investigators. Maxwell said Marks killed Scott and Swearingin on Jan. 3 in separate rooms, and she helped him transport them to an isolated area near Clearview, Okla. She was there when he buried them, Maxwell said.

Marks remained in the Bell County Jail on Wednesday, held in lieu of bonds that totaled more than $1.75 million.

    T.J. Dillashaw

T.J. Dillashaw accepts two-year suspension from USADA after positive drug test
Steven Marrocco, MMA Junkie Published 4:22 p.m. ET April 9, 2019

Former UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw has accepted a two-year suspension after testing positive for recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO), the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency announced on Tuesday.

Dillashaw's suspension is retroactive to the date of his in-competition test from Jan. 18, meaning he'll be eligible to fight again on Jan. 18, 2021. The positive EPO test stems from his failed bid to capture the flyweight title from Henry Cejudo at UFC on ESPN+1.

Three weeks ago, Dillashaw, 33, suddenly announced he'd been hit with an adverse finding and relinquished the UFC bantamweight title. The New York State Athletic Commission, which regulated UFC on ESPN+ 1, later confirmed a one-year suspension and $10,000 fine to the deposed champ, though it didn't reveal the substance for which he tested positive. Dillashaw expressed disappointment at the adverse finding, but he didn't explicitly deny using any banned substances.

T.J. Dillashaw has been suspended for two years. (Photo: Frank Franklin II, AP)

The UFC has since booked a bout between Cejudo and No. 1 bantamweight contender Marlon Moraes for the vacant 135-pound title, which will take place June 8 at UFC 238.

Per USADA's statement, rHuEPO is a synthetic hormone used to stimulate the body's production of red blood cells, thereby increasing oxygen transport and aerobic power. It's in the class of peptide hormones, growth factors, related substances, and mimetics and is banned at all times.

"We all know the pressures to win at all levels of all sport are real and intense," USADA CEO Travis T. Tygart said in a statement. "It is exactly why strong anti-doping efforts are necessary to protect clean athletes' rights, health and safety, and to ensure that those who do succumb to these pressures and decide to break the rules will be held accountable in a real and meaningful way, as in this case."

Dillashaw has not commented publicly since his suspension was confirmed.

    Daron Cruickshank

This isn't as bad as most Busted MMA fighters and fights entires...and Koreans eat dogs too. How come they seldom get called out on it? Koreans run a surprising amount of Japanese and Chinese restaurants in the U.S.

    Ryan General·April 15, 2019·4 min read
MMA Fighter Blasted For Racist Video Mocking Random Japanese People as Dog Eaters

    'Just a joke, relax.'

Mixed martial arts fighter Daron Cruickshank is being called out for mocking random Japanese people with the dog-eating stereotype in a video posted on his Instagram.

Cruickshank, who earns a living in Asia, is employed by RIZIN Fighting Federation, a Japanese MMA company.

In his controversial clip, re-uploaded by MMA apparel label Dynasty Clothing on its Facebook page, showed the MMA fighter inside a pet store which he dubbed a “Japanese meat market.”

Referring to a group of Asians in his video, Cruickshank noted that they are “checking out what they’re gonna eat for dinner.”
“Yummy huh? Yummy?” he asked while laughing at the clueless onlookers.

Cruickshank then posted a link of the clip on Twitter, writing, “Ok, I recently learned that it’s not the Japanese that eat dog. It’s the Chinese… #funnyvideos #funnymemes…”

Responding to early criticisms from fans and fellow MMA fighters on social media, he brushed it off as “just a joke,” advising everyone to “relax.”

The joke, of course, is that they must be looking to eat the dogs because they are Asians.

Finding nothing funny about the whole thing, Dynasty Clothing berated Cruickshank for his juvenile stunt.

“Posting anti-Asian ‘jokes’ to mock Asians while ironically being employed by Asian companies and while fighting/working in Asia is moronic, shameful, and wrong.”

“For the record, if you travel anywhere in the world, different people from many different cultures including within Europe and Scandinavia also consume different animals such as dogs, cats, horses, whales, cows, seals, maggots, etc. – yet you won’t hear a single word about this in the media,” the post read.

“Just because western media loves to highlight what small groups of people in Asia like to consume, doesn’t mean all Asians consume the same thing,” it added.

The brand further noted how individuals like Cruickshank “contribute to the perpetuation of harmful stereotypes against Asians worldwide with his fanbase / online which should have no place in martial arts or the world.”

The post, which tagged ONE Championship owner Victor Cui and chairman Chatri Sityodtong, reminded Cruickshank how his career depended on the culture he is making fun of.

“Himself a practitioner of Asian martial arts, while employed by Asian MMA companies such as RIZIN Fighting Federation – Daron has forgotten that without Asian people or culture – he wouldn’t even have a career in the first place.”

Cruickshank has since deleted the video but has yet to apologize for his actions.

    Nikita Fedonenko

Omsk nationalists from MMA fighter Fedonenko’s gang receive sentences

The extremists attacked people of non-Slavic appearance; one victim died.

The Regional Court of Omsk sentenced members of the gang of the MMA fighter Nikita Fedonenko, 23, who beat people of non-Slavic appearance and demanded that they leave Russia. Six victims, one of whom had already died, are indicated in the case. The nationalists were found guilty of extremism, robbery, murder, and intentional infliction of minor bodily harm based on racial hatred, the ICR’s regional Directorate reports.

As the investigation established, since 2010, the MMA fighter Fedonenko has posted materials aimed at inciting hatred and hostility on racial basis on the Internet. After meeting Alexander Bezborodov and Alexander Lanbin he began organizing raids with them.

The young men were armed with knives, air rifles and pistols, canisters with tear gas, brass knuckles, with which in 2016 they conducted a number of attacks, choosing victims on racial grounds. Later, the gangsters involved Regina Mikulicheva, 17, in their gang. The latter would start texting with a potential victim, pretended to be a prostitute and made an appointment, but the “client” was met by the armed gang.

The court sentenced Fedonenko to 18 years in a strict regime penal colony, Bezborodov received 16 years, Mikulicheva was sentenced to six years in a general regime penal colony, whereas Lanbin avoided punishment due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

Two men charged for running unsanctioned MMA fights in Glendale
azfamily.com News Staff Posted 4 hrs ago 1

    (Source: www.123rf.com)

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5)-- Charges have been filed against two men after they ran unsanctioned combat sporting events in Glendale in 2018.

The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) said on Monday that Roland Sarria and Todd Whitmoyer face four class-2 misdemeanors after they "failed to procure a license and failing to provide a physician for two unsanctioned events that occurred on Sept. 15 in Phoenix and on Sept. 29 in Glendale."

The Arizona Boxing & Mixed Martial Arts Commission regulates and sanctions amateur and professional MMA, professional boxing and kickboxing contests conducted statewide.

ADG said any event not approved by an authorized sanctioning body is considered unsanctioned.

“It’s our duty to protect the integrity of these sports, the unarmed combatants and the public,” ADG Director Ted Vogt said in a statement.

“We do this by ensuring that individuals engaged in unsanctioned unarmed combat events are held accountable in a court of law.”

In a statement, Francisco Meneses, Jr., Executive Director, Arizona Boxing & MMA Commission said that unsanctioned events "pose a physical danger to fighters and the public alike and compromise the integrity of combat sports.”

ADG added that Sarria and Whitmoyer could face additional charges.

ADG asks the public if they have a tip or just need information on unsanctioned events, they can contact their department at (602) 364-1721.
Remember when 'unsanctioned MMA fights' were just backroom bar fights?

    Anthony "Rumble" Johnson

Again? We missed the first time?

    EX-UFC STAR ANTHONY JOHNSON
    ARRESTED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
    ... Again

    5/7/2019 6:10 AM PDT

    EXCLUSIVE

Ex-UFC star Anthony "Rumble" Johnson was arrested for domestic violence Monday night after admitting he got physical during an argument with his girlfriend, TMZ Sports has learned.

According to the police report, obtained by TMZ Sports, a woman called police to report an altercation with her boyfriend, Anthony Johnson.

The woman claimed she had started to pack AJ's belongings to throw him out of the house when he forcefully picked her up -- "put her in a football hold" -- and carried her into another room.

The woman claims "she was scared due to his size and martial arts experience."

FYI, 35-year-old Johnson is a former UFC star who was 22-6 as a pro -- with wins over stars like Glover Teixeira, Ryan Bader and Alexander Gustafsson.

Cops say the woman did not have any visible injuries.

When cops spoke with Johnson that night, he admitted he had grabbed the woman and carried her during the argument -- but says his intention was never to hurt her. Johnson claimed he simply didn't want to argue anymore.

Cops determined Johnson's actions warranted a domestic violence arrest -- so they took him into custody and hauled him to a nearby station where he was booked on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.

Johnson retired from the UFC back in 2017 -- after losing to Daniel Cormier. His profession on the police report is listed as "body building."

It's not the first time Johnson's been arrested for domestic violence. He was busted for a 2009 incident involving an ex-girlfriend and later plead no contest to a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.

The Hawaii mixed martial arts fighter who pleaded no contest to a charge of assaulting his wife, UFC fighter Rachael Ostovich Berdon, has been sentenced to four years of probation.

A judge sentenced Arnold Berdon today after hearing from Ostovich Berdon, who said, “I do have the power to move forward, walking in forgiveness and I have.”

Deputy Honolulu Prosecuting Attorney Robert Rawson had asked for five years in prison.

Ostovich Berdon filed for a temporary restraining order in November, alleging her husband punched her in the head, face and ribs. He hit her after a night out with family and she fell to the ground, gasped for air and escaped through a balcony, according to her petition for an order of protection. She said she coughed up blood and threw up several times.

“This wasn’t a single act, it wasn’t a single punch. This was a sustained brutal assault,” Rawson said, adding that a portion of it was recorded by a bystander. “For nearly 10 minutes, the defendant assaulted the victim while she begged for him to stop.”

After jumping over the balcony, Ostovich Berdon ran to her sister-in-law’s house, Rawson said.

It wasn’t the first incident of domestic violence, Rawson said.

Berdon listened to the audio the bystander recorded and was “deeply troubled by what he heard,” said his defense attorney, Myles Breiner. Berdon loves his wife, Breiner said.

“Granted, they both had been drinking that night, but it doesn’t change the fact that although both of them are professional mixed martial arts fighters and intoxicated, the fact that it rose to the level that his wife had to jump off the balcony … to run for safety, still troubles Arnold,” Breiner said. “He thinks about it all the time.”

Breiner noted that Ostovich Berdon didn’t ask for any additional jail time.

Police initially arrested Berdon on a charge of second-degree attempted murder. Prosecutors later charged him with second-degree assault.

“You really hurt your wife, you hurt your family,” said Judge Trish Morikawa.

The judge gave him credit for two days he spent in jail and said Berdon doesn’t need additional time behind bars to be motivated to do the right thing.

After pleading no contest to assault in March, Berdon said he wanted to spare his family from a legal battle.

Following the incident, Ostovich Berdon dropped out of a January UFC Fight Night match against Paige VanZant but later decided to go through with it, saying she was healing. VanZant made Ostovich Berdon tap out to an armbar in the second round. Their bout in New York was part of the first card aired by ESPN-plus under a new deal with UFC.

Berdon has fought for some minor MMA promotions.

The couple’s divorce decree was filed Wednesday, with full custody of the couple’s 6-year-old daughter going to Ostovich Berdon, Breiner said. Berdon will have supervised visits with his daughter and will ask for reconsideration of custody after completing anger management and domestic violence intervention classes, Breiner said.

“I thank my wife for being strong for my daughter,” Berdon said.

    Desmond Green

UFC's Desmond Green jailed on 20 charges, including DUI manslaughter, after deadly crash
    Steven Marrocco, MMA Junkie Published 7:43 a.m. ET June 27, 2019 | Updated 7:45 a.m. ET June 27, 2019

UFC lightweight Desmond Green was arrested and jailed Tuesday on 20 separate charges, including DUI manslaughter, stemming from his alleged role in a car crash last August that left two women dead.

Green, 29, remained in custody as of Wednesday afternoon at the Broward County (Fla.) Main Jail on bonds totaling $194,000, according to online records. A warrant was issued for his arrest on June 19.

A request for comment with Green's attorney of record wasn't immediately returned. A UFC spokesperson acknowledged Green's arrest via text message but did not immediately comment.

Green faces a litany of charges: Two second-degree felony counts of DUI manslaughter; four third-degree felony counts of DUI causing serious bodily injury; third-degree felony posession of cocaine; five misdemeanor counts of DUI property damage; and third-degree felony driving with a suspended license.

The crash happened early on the morning of Aug. 18, 2018, on a Florida freeway after Green allegedly veered his 2011 Dodge Durango into the path of a truck with a trailer in the next lane and caused a chain reaction that involved three other vehicles.

The force of the impact caused one of the vehicles to hit a guard rail and flip over, killing two passengers - Emelina Morfa, 67, and Emma Suarez Hernandez, 76 - while seriously injuring the driver. Green and another driver were treated for minor injuries.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Green was driving with a suspended licenses in Florida and New York from previous accidents. A witness saw him exit the vehicle and throw a metal object over a concrete traffic barrier. A nearby off-duty police officer found the object, allegedly a marijuana grinder, and made contact with Green, whom he observed to be intoxicated. The officer also noticed a small bag of white powder "in plain view" on the front passenger seat of Green's truck. The substance was later tested and determined to be cocaine.

On-scene officers said Green slurred his speech and smelled of alcohol. A toxicology report said the UFC fighter tested positive for cannabinoids, THC and a blood-alcohol level of 0.14, according to the affidavit.

State prosecutors said Green cited multiple convictions in Florida and New York for driving without license and other charges in a request to jail him prior to Tuesday's arrest.

As MMA Junkie previously reported, Green had gotten into a fender-bender two weeks prior to the accident. He was convicted for driving with a suspended license and no proof of insurance. He also was pulled over in April 2018 for expired registration tags. The officer who arrested him said "a smell of cannabis emitted from the vehicle" and Green admitted to having marijuana and "mushrooms" in the vehicle. An arrest warrant was issued after he failed to appear on charges for the marijuana and expired tags, but he was able to reverse the order and postpone his appearance.

Green's legal troubles did not stop him from fighting in the octagon. He faced Mairbek Taisumov just once month after the deadly collision and lost a unanimous decision. He went on to fight twice more, picking up consecutive wins, including a decision over Charles Jourdain in his hometown of Rochester, N.Y.

    Cedric Marks death penalty?

    This is Mark's 3rd post here - here's his 2nd with a link to his 1st.

Prosecutors seek death penalty against MMA fighter accused of double murder
    AUGUST 13, 2019 / 7:09 PM / CBS/AP

Prosecutors in Central Texas plan to seek the death penalty for a professional MMA fighter accused in the deaths of two people whose bodies were found in a shallow grave in Oklahoma, CBS Dallas/Fort Worth reports. The Bell County District Attorney's Office has filed formal notice to seek the death penalty against Cedric Marks, 45, District Attorney Henry Garza said Monday.

Marks was indicted for the murders of Jenna Scott, 28, and Michael Swearingin, 32, two friends who were killed Jan. 3 at a home in Killeen about 127 miles southwest of Dallas, according to investigators.

Their bodies were found about a week later in a shallow grave in Clearview, Oklahoma, about 80 miles east of Oklahoma City.

Marks, Scott's ex-boyfriend, has pleaded not guilty. Michael White, one of Marks' attorneys, told the Killeen Daily Herald that Marks "was not surprised" that prosecutors will seek the death penalty and "is anticipating his day in court when his story is told."

His current girlfriend, Maya Maxwell, also faces charges in the case. Maxwell has told authorities she was at the Texas residence when the victims were killed and when their bodies were buried in Oklahoma, according to an affidavit filed in the case.

Authorities captured Cedric Joseph Marks about nine hours after he escaped from a prisoner transport van earlier Sun., Feb. 3, 2019.
    KHOU-TV

In February, Marks prompted a manhunt in Texas when he escaped from a private prisoner transportation van following his arrest in Michigan. He was being transported from Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Bell County in Texas, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

He was recaptured nine hours later.

Marks was once a professional fighter with the MMA who went by the nickname "Spiderman." His most recent fight was in September 2018, according to the MMA site Tapology. He also worked as a trainer at a gym in Killeen, Texas, several years ago.

MMA fighter sentenced after exposing himself to women in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The man who was accused of exposing himself at the Landstown Shopping Center in Virginia Beach was sentenced Wednesday on all 10 charges he was facing.

24-year-old Imani Immanuel Smith is facing two years in prison with indefinite supervised probation upon release.

    24-year-old Imani Immanuel Smith

The charges against 24-year-old Imani Immanuel Smith of Virginia Beach include six counts of indecent exposure and four counts of masturbation or simulated in public, police said.

Smith’s brother admits the MMA fighter has been in trouble in the past but says they have the wrong guy.

Six women testified about different exposing situations in court. One of the women is a former police officer.

Authorities previously said the suspect, seen sitting in a vehicle, would summon women passing by to “ask for directions.” Officials said when the victim approached the vehicle, the suspect exposed himself while performing a sexual act.

News 3 spoke to Smith from behind bars last spring. The MMA fighter said he did not commit the crime.

Smith said it is a case of mistaken identity and added he was in another city when the incident happened.

According to prosecutors, several witnesses picked Smith out of a photo lineup and also provided a partial license plate that matches a vehicle Smith drives. The defense brought up discrepancies between the witnesses’ description of the suspect and the vehicle he was in, but after an argument that Smith was the only man in the lineup who had tattoos, the judge sided with the prosecution.
