Martial artist from Assam performs yoga on running bike
By ANI | ANI – 6 hours ago

Jorhat, Apr 5 (ANI): S S Siddhartha, a national level martial art instructor, in a bid to enter the Guinness Book of World Records, recently performed as many as 55 yoga postures on a speeding motorbike.

Sidhartha, a martial arts specialist from Rongdoi Dagaon village of Jorhat district performed 55 yoga postures, on a motorbike running between 60-80Km per hour, for about 55 minutes.

Hundreds of his supporters cheered him on during the performance.

Sidhartha's name is already there in the India Book of Records but now all documents and visuals of the event will be sent to London for an official entry to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Dr BK Chandrasekhar Tiwari, the Indian observer for the Guinness World Records, who was present during this performance, said his attempt should be recognized as a world record.

"He has fulfilled all Guinness world record requirements; he followed all the rules and regulations. He performed 55 positions (postures) on the running motorbike. He never falls down so he is in the tile for the Guinness world Record," said Dr Tiwari.

42-year-old Siddhartha, a kung Fu coach and national referee, is also a member of the All Jorhat Manchuria Kung Fu Academy affiliated to the Manchuria Kung Fu International School of Chinese Self Defence Martial Arts headquartered in Hong Kong.

His recent attempt breaks the record of Yuvraj C. P, a resident of Chennai who works as a yoga teacher in Hong Kong. He had performed 23 yogasanas in Mumbai on February 17, 2011. (ANI)

Martial arts expert to attempt world record in punching
    TNN Apr 7, 2013, 04.07AM IST

PUNE: Martial arts expert Siddhu Sharnappa Kshetri will attempt to break the world record for the longest punching marathon at Sambhaji Park on April 12. With this attempt he aims to raise funds for the treatment of his friend who is suffering from blood cancer in a city hospital and needs Rs 20 lakh for a bone marrow transplant.

Kshetri has been practicing martial arts for the past 15 years. He will be the first Indian to attempt punching for 50 hours continuously, extending over two days and two nights. The record is now held by Ronald Sarchian of the US, a professional stuntman from Hollywood. Kshetri is also preparing for 2016 Olympics in Rio.
Hey! I've been to Pune. I lived there for a month. Nice city!

    Non-stop Nunchuks

There's a vid if you follow the link.

    It happens:Record Attempt Jun 21, 4:34 pm

Vizag, June 21, (ANI): A treat to eyes came for martial arts enthusiasts and lovers as non-stop swinging of martial arts weapon, nunchaku for thirty six hours created a unique and a first hand record of its kind in southern India's port city of Vizag. This is for the first time that a record with the martial arts weapon often termed as a 'chaku stick or nunchaku' has been attempted and created in India. The historical event for the port city was held at the Andhra kesari stadium in Ukkunagaram on Sunday. The record was attempted and created by a group of 27 participants mostly children, who entered the Limca Book of Records and World Amazing records, and Asian Book of records for non-stop display of their skills with the weapon. Meanwhile, officials of the record book confirmed creation of this new record. Vizag has well-gained fame over attempting and creating records as earlier also, locals have successfully entered the difficult and unique records books of repute like the Guinness and the Limca for performing acts.

Martial artist breaks two world records in Saudi Arabia

    Saudi Gazette - Mohammed Alshoaiby

Tae Kwan Do black belt Ahmad Amin Bodla, 21, broke two Guinness World Records on Wednesday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The first record was for “number of kicks in three minutes,” breaking Indian master Sidhu Kshetri’s world record of 620 kicks with 783 kicks with one leg.

The second record was in the number of punches in one minute in the Wing Chun style of martial arts, breaking Australian master Mick Faber’s 301 punches with 313.

“I feel quite proud and happy that all this hard work has paid off,” said Bodla after breaking both records. There was a lot of pressure and a lot of hype, but despite all that, Alhamdulillah (thank God), I’ve broken the records,” he said.

Bodla, who hails from Pakistan, has studied in Riyadh’s King Saud University (KSU) and will be on his way to Pakistan next week.

The decision to break the records, Ahmad said, was an ode to the time he spent here among students and professors at KSU.

“It was my mission to create that memory here in Riyadh, because I’ve spent a good time here and when I look back, I want to look back at this moment,” he said.

Bodla currently holds 18 Guinness World Records in various martial arts categories, including most full-contact Wing Chun-style punching strikes in two minutes, with 1,204 strikes, and fastest time to strike 100 martial arts punches, coming in at 7.66 seconds.

The results of Wednesday’s attempts were reviewed by a panel of judges present at the event, held at a Fitness First, who confirmed Bodla’s record, while the video footage will be sent to the Guinness World Records to officially tally the results and publish them within the next two months.

Ahmad’s father, Zia Ullah Anjum Bodla, was present at the event, cheering his son on along with friends and family members.

“I’m humbled and I bow my head before Allah Almighty because without his blessing and kindness, no achievement can ever be made,” he said.

Bodla first became interested in martial arts when he was 17, as his father recalls: “I was deployed operationally in a far-flung area near Lahore, and Ahmad met an army soldier who was an expert black belt in martial arts. From him, he was inspired to follow this path.”

Bodla’s journey through martial arts was challenged by a childhood struggle with asthma, his father said: “Incidentally, Ahmad was very slim and weak and I never thought he would become so strong, but because of his personal dedication and zest, Masha’a Allah, he has been able to achieve this standard.”

On entering the demonstrative and performance side of martial arts, Bodla said: “Five years ago, I started training as a beginner, when I was 17 years old.

The main thing was getting the black belt.”

But Bodla said the black belt was not enough of an achievement for him, and while seeking out other challenges he came across the increasingly popular field of martial arts demonstration.

“I saw a video of a Spanish master breaking a world kicking record in one minute, and I thought ‘I’m going for this record.’

“When I told people that I’m going to break this record, they used to laugh at me.

“Today, Alhamdulillah I have 18 world records.”

Bodla said he will continue to seek world records with the help of the global leader in the field, Guinness World Records, and the support of his family and friends.

KARACHI: Pakistan’s Ahmad Amin Bodla merited his experience by successfully breaking three Guinness World Records in martial arts on Monday in Lahore.
The 20-year-old bettered his own world record by landing 835 kicks in three minutes using one leg. He improved from 783 kicks that he had performed in Saudi Arabia in August last year.
Bodla also broke the record of the most kicks in a minute which was held by America’s Raul Meza, by landing 355 kicks.

He also broke the record for the most punches in one minute, which was previously held by Australia’s Mick Faber. Bodla punched 325 times using one hand.
“It’s an aim for me to make more records as a Pakistani,” Bodla told The Express Tribune.
“I train every day for three to four hours. Preparing for these performances is tough, but I’ve been doing it independently. I already have 26 Guinness world records.”
Bodla recorded these feats in the presence of an audience and three judges who counted the kicks and punches at the Legends Martial Arts Club Engineer Sports Club.
According to one of the judges Shafiqur Rehman Khattana, Bodla’s achievements make him an asset for Pakistan.
“It’s an honour,” said Khattana. “He is the only Pakistani to break into the field with so many world records. Before him there were only foreigners who have held these records .
“He is an inspiration. When new athletes come to train for martial arts they have a role model in Bodla,” said Khattana.
‘My ambition to create records started in 2011’
Bodla stated that his ambition for creating world records began in 2011, when he saw a video of a Spanish master making a world record with the most kicks in a minute.
According to him, he took up taekwondo as his father’s guard had been a black belt in martial arts.
“I was 14 at that time,” he said. “My father had a guard who was trained in taekwondo. That was the inspiration for me. I trained with him initially before being certified as a black belt.
He further stated that in order to verify his credential for Monday’s records, the footage will be sent to the Guiness World Record headquarters in the UK, which would take three months.

Aussie Anthony Kelly breaks Guinness World Record for catching spears shot from speargun

Anthony Kelly is a martial arts expert with lightning fast reflexes and, for Guinness World Records Day 2014, he broke the record for catching spears from a speargun.

Record holders and potential record breakers worldwide came together on Thursday to mark the 10th anniversary of the day in 2004 when Guinness World Records became the world's best-selling copyright book, according to its website,

Mr Kelly, who assists at Armidale High School, organised the Australian leg of GWR 2014. Students and teachers from the school took part.

The world's tallest man, Sultan Kosen, meets the world's shortest man, Chandra Bahadur Dangi. Photo: AFP

"We attempted two records at Armidale High School; the first was for the most people head-banging and we succeeded in that," Mr Kelly said.

"[We had] 320 people [headbanging] to AC/DC's It's a Long Way to the Top."

The second attempt was for the most thongs thrown, which the students unfortunately missed by just 19, because half the students forgot to bring their thongs to school and some students were away on excursions.

"Any multiple record like that, you must have a minimum of 250 people participating," Mr Kelly said.

But the best effort was Mr Kelly's own record, which he set in the swimming pool at Sport UNE at the University of New England: not once, but twice.

The event involves catching the most spears shot from a speargun, from a distance of two metres, underwater in one minute.

The record stood at seven, but Mr Kelly caught first eight, then 10, spears.

Mr Kelly is a learning support officer at Armidale High, where he handles a group of children with special needs and engages them in extra-curricular physical activities..

He also teaches reaction training and kung fu classes at Duval High School.

He is not a spearfisherman himself, but his interest in the record comes from his incredible reaction ability and the difficulty of the event.

Around the world, various events took place to mark GWR 2014.

In London, the world's tallest man, Sultan Kosen, met the world's shortest man, Chandra Bahadur Dangi, for the first time, at St Thomas's Hospital.

The pair also posed for photos outside the Houses of Parliament.

Mr Kosen, 31, from Turkey, measures a staggering two metres, 51 centimetres, while Mr Bahadur Dangi , 75, from Nepal, measures just 54.6 centimetres.

In Tokyo, the record for the fastest 100 metres on all fours was set at 15.86 seconds by Katsumi Tamakoshi at Komazawa Olympic Park Athletic Field in Setagaya.

In China, a record was set for the most people eating breakfast in bed. Three hundred and eight-eight people congregated in Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai, to eat their morning meal, breaking the record by 99.

The world famous Moulin Rouge in Paris also participated in GWR 2014 with three successful attempts.

They were the most simultaneous demi-grand rond de jambe cancan kicks by a single chorus line in 30 seconds (29), the most spinning splits in 30 seconds (36) and the most times to position one leg behind the head in 30 seconds by an individual (30).

In New York, home to some of the world's biggest and best fashion labels, the largest high-heeled shoe was created by Jill Martin and fashion brand Kenneth Cole. The shoe is 1.95 metres long and 1.85 metres high.

In an astonishing attempt at the world's longest basketball shot made backwards, Thunder Law of the Harlem Globetrotters landed a shot from 25 metres. An American NBA basketball court is 28.65 metres long.

    10021 Chunners!

There are more pix and two vids if you follow the link.

Kung fu nation: 10,021 students break world record for largest Wing Chun display
    gbtimes
    2015/01/09

10,021 college students have succeeded in punching and kicking their way to a new world record for the largest Wing Chun kung fu show ever seen.

The participants studying in the Sichuan Southwest College of Civil Aviation were seen simultaneously showing off their martial arts skills in Chengdu, Sichuan Province on January 8, reported China News Service.

Guinness World Records representative John Garland announced that the students managed to smash the previous record for the world’s largest Wing Chun display which was set by 3,167 participants in Foshan, Guangdong Province on 2010.

The college started teaching this particular style of kung fu last summer. According to staff, the self-defense training could help the future aviation workers to combat potential terrorists or unruly passengers.

Wing Chun which is considered a national treasure in China was popularized by grandmaster Yip Man (aka Ip Man or Yip Kai-man) who passed his knowledge on to martial arts star Bruce Lee.
