Hi Robert,
Thanks for the response. So your point of view is based on some other material.
Is there a link that can be posted?
Also, I am not familiar with the book Bai Yuan Tou Tao.
I will start looking for it.
Anything else about that book you could share?

I have searched for the novel bai yuan tou tao, but couldnt find anything.
Is it possible there is another name?
Also, How did you make the connection between
Lian Quan and General Yue's family fist?

Hi Kevin,
I believe the story is a chapter found in the "Qi Guo Yan Yi" (the tale of the 7 states). It's about the warfare between Wei (Henan) and Qi (Shandong). The story has to do with the Famous Gui Gu Zi (鬼谷子) and his 2 students Sun Bin (孫臏) and Pang Juan ( 龐涓). This is the story that inspired the "mantis seize cicada" myth.
The name of Gui Gu Zi (鬼谷子) is actually Wang Xu (王詡) AKA Wang Chan (王禪). "Chan" means Dhyana or meditation and also same pronunciation as the insect - Cicada. I believe the Wang Lang in the "Shaolin Authentics" is rendition of Gui Gu Zi - Wang Xu.
As for lian Quan, which has nine hands or single moves/line drills, you can google in Chinese and you will find in most Chinese martial arts forums and sites that it is in fact an alias for Yue Jia Quan although mostly admit that it's rather a version of it rather than the real Yue Jia Quan. Apparently, the 12 old hands that you showed me is also known as Yue Jia Quan and it's used to be taught in caravan escort agencies in Yantai. I believe there are videos of Lian Quan available as well.
I now believe that the myth of Wang Lang was originated in the Shandong Caravan escort trade during the Qing dynasty based on the White Ape story, which in itself is of course an ancient myth.
Warmest regards
Robert

Robert, Can you Elaborate?
Since I am not familiar with the Chinese Classics / epics etc. (and the fact that I'm just a caveman) I would appreciate elaboration to help me understand how you arrive at this:

Thanks very much.
