Body weight squats are not new to exercise. Oftentimes this exercise was the precursor to squat training with weights. The exercise develops good form and helps develop muscular endurance in the legs.
The way that these guys approach the exercise concerns me because of the traction that can be experienced in the lower back if good form is not observed.

BW squats are probably one of the best non-impact aerobic exercises you can do and do wonders for your muscular endurance ( legs).
Even if you can stand in a horse stance for 10 minutes, try to do 10 minutes of full range BW squats, you]ll see what I mean.
