Greetings,

The reason I jettisoned Rap music is because I detected something underlying the communication.

Early on, during the growth phase of this genre, emerged a controversial group of rappers who were hard hitting and without compromise. I purchased one of their albums and listened to it every chance I could get (drove my mom nuts). Then, I started to notice something. I kept getting this powerful urge to tear down a brick wall. It came with a visual of a brick wall, as well. I had to catch myself and notice that this thought was not my own and neither was the aggressive energy that I was experiencing typical of me. I noticed I was experiencing this while I was listening to this rap album, and it stopped shortly after I stopped listening to it. I realized, then, that there had to be something going on besides the spoken rap lyrics: something subliminal. From that point on, I left rap music alone, never to buy another rap album again.
