Is it actually just smashing arms against arms until someone goes down?

That's a great idea for an event. I'd love to see dueling iron head masters do something that. It'd be like watching rams in rutting season.

    Tug of war maybe?

In all seriousness, I do think that unique competitions are where it's at for kung fu. Kung fu has such a diversity. It can be expressed in so many unique ways. As long as we don't get all haughty and say we're the world champions of iron head/iron crotch/iron forearm, such unique competitions are really healthy. There are some really unique competitions in PRC now. The On Water Contest of the 'Liqun Cup' International Traditional Wushu and Unique Feats Tournament (see eXtreme Kungfu Qigong: Hard Qigong and Water Lei Tai Fights in China's Amazing New Tournament) was an example of a really unusual competition. I love that stuff.

I was serious...isn't that basically what sam sing is? Smashing arms? One could conclude that a competition would mean smashing arms until one cannot smash arms any longer.

Don't do much of that anymore but would have loved that back in the day...always great when your bridge feels so strong, then you go against someone beyond you and it feels like day one.

I need more bridge in my life...
