Regarding Stephen Chang, I have heard numerous things about whom he learnt from including that he learnt in HK from Chiu Gao (father of Chui Chi Ling & Chiu Wei) thus his orientation for studded leather wrist bands & body building.
I had also heard that he never actually learnt in HK but actually learnt off of a lesser known Hung Gar Sifu in either Prince George or Vernon where Stephen Chang originally went when he first immigrated to Canada.
Stephen Chang's credibility over the years was not always high, he would often advertise teaching everything from Hung Gar & Chen Tai Chi (way back in the 70's when few did it outside of China) to JKD & Ninjitsu.
Some of his former students that now teach have distanced themselves from Stephen Chang; Raymond Cheung made a trip to HK and 'bought' into Chan Hon Chung's lineage and makes no reference to his many years under Stephen Chang.
Vancouver's 'Hung Gar Federation' did not even invite him to join their organization eventhough Stephen Chang is, inspite of his credibility issues, probably Vancouver's pioneer teacher for Hung Gar.
