    The future of the TCMA

I like the "freedom" in this clip. It's not like when you were young, you father told you that you shouldn't do this and you shouldn't do that. We don't see that:

    - I throw you down, I win.
    - You push me back, you win.
    - This move is against my style principle.
    - That move is not Chinese.
    - Your move is illegal in sport.
    - It's not "internal".
    - ...

If you win, it's great. If you lose, it's fun too. Just do the best that you can. Do you think this is the future of the TCMA?

there are also many answers to fighting.

the old way and the new way

it is only your perspective of what is old or "new".

    it is for the curious.

some are collecting and preserving the butterflies.

some are learning/collecting and preserving the "old" fighting methods.

it is all for the curious.

you find your answers for life yourself.

you find your answers for fighting yourself.

One of my students sent me that link. He told me that this is how he is curently teaching his students. I told him that I strongly support his direction. Something that I may not be able to do in my lifetime (such as fully ground game integration), I'm happy to see that it may have chance to be done by my next generation.

In my student's school, the training was already moving toward that direction many years ago.

TCMA would do well to move away from "kung fu maxims", mystical powers, and looking not sparring.

If TCMA people worked on actual combat skills kung fu could be saved. Of course if some moron pays a charlatan money to learn "lightness" skills or iron palm he or she is free to spend her money the way they want. Kung fu is also a business and it is always better to separate a fool and his money than to let him keep it.

I had always wanted to go to Hollywood to design some "fighting scenes". IMO, the Chinese throwing art just wasn't introduced enough in most of the fight scenes.

I teach Irom Palm and there is nothing mystical or magical about it. Hand conditioning is just another part of training that a student may wish to endever. Some do it, some don't.

Yes there are charletans out there but don't blame or condem Iron Palm.... just the iceholes who miss use it.

Some symbolism from the movie clip

The narrow house is like a cage fight. The platform with rails is like lei tai.

lots of illegal moves for the ring. such as strikes on ground games. kneeing the temple etc

if it is a real fight, the fight ends in a few seconds or a minute

Since it is a movie, both continues even though they are equal or no one is winning, so keep on fighting.

the fall off the platform or lei tai

who ever falls to ground first would lose (ring rule) etc etc

    lots of symbolism.

elbow and knee are both used for defense and offense. Good.

other stuff are theatrical or just for movie's sake.

    etc etc.

if you are curious, that is.

if you think the future is in the ring, then there are rules for safety.

    we follow the rule sets.

if you think the future is actual combat with no rules

then fight away as a soldier or law enforcement with weapon or not.

    fight on that is.
