Probably only if someone on here recognizes him.

    8:48

    Greetings,

That appears to be early footage of the Master of Fukien Dog boxing. He wrote a book that came out in the mid to late "80's. Gene did an article on one of his students a couple of years ago.

Here is the photo of the master and his name:

That's the first Hap Ga clip I've seen from China that doesn't have modern wushu moves. Real stuff. Thanks.

At this time Siu Yuen and A-Keung were competing in forms competitions, so their 'flavour' was contemporary (Emphasis on 'rhythm' and 'posture' necessary to win form competition on Canton in the late '80s). However the forms themselves are actually traditional : Hap Gar Dan Gim Dao and Hap Gar Mui Fa Cheung.
If you want to win forms competition in Canton NOW, you would have to add no handed cartwheels and 540 degree jump spins

I'm relieved to read this. I see nothing wrong with modern wushu as long as the new generation of students in traditonal wushu are allowed to learn the fighting style forms and don't confuse the two styles.

    Thanks for the clarification, RisingCrane.

Beautiful forms, by the way. Hap Ga Kyun is my favorite system.
