    I Ching readings

I've seen some people access the I Ching hexigrams when doing readings through tossing two coins. What is the specific method used to get to each of the hexigrams?

I dont know about the two coins. Here is the 3 coin method in case you're interested.

Tthis is the method represented in Thomas Cleary's translation of 1796 Liu I-ming. In this book he does reference the Wilhelm/Baynes version for the yarrow sticks or Chinese (perhaps the 2 coin method, could be your source?) coins methods. I am a big fan of Thomas Cleary's work, always thorough and well put together.

    3 U.S. Penny method:

    1. formulate question.
    2. toss coins.

tails has a value of 2
heads has a value of 3

    3 tails = yin moving line = 6
    3 heads = yang moving line = 9
    2 tails, 1 head = yang solid line = 7
    2 heads, 1 tails = yin broken line = 8

    3. cast the coins six times total. the first toss represents the first line of the hexagram, starting at the bottom working your way up.

    4. cunsult I Ching for translation.
