    Lee Kam Wings new book

I saw on Wushu Direct that GM Lee has a new book out ''Seven-Star Mantis Style Traditional Chinese Martial Arts''.

I was wondering if anyone had any info on its contents, particularly which forms are shown.

    Cheers

The book has three forms. !st Road Esstential Boxing, Big Tiger & Geese Boxing and Mantis steals Peach (Three great forms, some of my favs)

The book is only in Chinese but has apps and drills as well as the three forms.

I will check it out at the weekend and rport back.

    Hi Craig,
The forms in lee kam wings book are yat lo yare yue. dai fu yan and tong long tow toe."
in English that would be 1st route essential,Big Tiger goose, and Mantis steal's peach,
the 1st route essential & Mantis steal's peach have both been in WHF books.
the big tiger goose is CCM and maybe other lineages also.

I will ask the question but i am sure the answer will be straight forward, like someone asked him to do the book or it costs more to do duel language.

Hey Roy, are you saying other mantis lines don't have dai fu yan?

If not then do they have siu fu yan?

Just as another point of interest, we translate dai fu yan as big tiger and geese.

    Hi Paul,
You might be right that it could cost more to translate!
still look forwards to seeing (owning a copy).
No i am not saying other Lineages don't have Large Tiger Goose, but not the WHF branch's that i am aware of!.
LOL, yes i have the small Tiger Swallow as Sifu Paul Drummond call's it
    Geese ,Goose,Swallow,LOL it's how some translate(not me!)LOL

Paul regarding the Large Tiger Goose,
    i shall call it that!
it's like the argument of the form that i call 18 HAND'S what some call 18 old men and other name's also.
The main "Bird" aspect's of the 7 star system are the Eagle,Swallow,Goose, seagull , the Large Tiger Goose form combines the softness and speed of the bird with the tenacity of the Tiger.

    Thanks for the info guys.

I actually bought the book 2 minutes after posting this thread, and had a look at it today. Its a good chunky book, tons and tons of apps, and also the 3 forms as mentioned.

My only gripe was GM Lee did away with the 'directional arrows' on the forms. This doesn't fuss me too much as I know 2 of the 3 forms demonstrated, but I always thought the arrows made it easier to read. I supposed on the other hand it makes it near impossible for someone attemping book-fu to learn the forms correctly.

It was good to see GM Lees foreign students acting out the apps too.

All in all a good book!

    Hi Craig,
It's ALL good for Research on form's and movement's, plus added Info.
exept in the case of the new LKW book it will take a while to extract,LOL
but since i have the other books of LKW then it's a must for my collection.
as with all books we hope to learn from them (Knowledge) that is the point to ALL BOOK'S RIGHT!
otherwise why read! i don't just want to look at photo's(before you say jake)LOL yes i can read as well,LOL

Hi Thomas - as mentioned W/D sell the book www.wushudirect.co.uk

From a quick flick through the content seems to be sort of this:

    Intro
    Principle Stances
Fist Techniques demo by GM Lee and student (taken from forms)
    Mantis steals peach
    Big Tiger Goose
    1st Essential
Lower Leg/Kicking Techniques Demo by students
    Hook Grapple Pluck drill
Another section of apps (poss intercepting techs - sorry cant read chinese and only flicking through as its late)
    More Apps
Nice big section on palm techniques/apps
    Photos
    Grading structures
    Shoutouts lol

Another bonus, the graphic design in this book is really nice - much nicer than the others

    Ciao

    Craig
