who has met a shaolin monk?

like a 31st gen one....ima go in jan. to a school in china and i think ima be star struck if i see the master of the school....im not saying i think he's a movie star or nothing i just admire and respect this person.....so my question is when you met your master were you in any way shape or form in awe?

After nine years of training with my Master I am still in awe. However, don't be too star struck or fall into the line of thinking that Shaolin monks are or act like the ones you see in the movies or you will be sorely disappointed. Keep in mind that they are human.

yeah....in the beginning i bought into the "shaolin myth" but i did my research(a lot) and still respect this man for just being a buddhist monk let alone a shaolin monk.......but i think that's just me.....i acknowledge they are still human and posses anger and what not but to be a buddhist monk is just in my view inspiring

Yep, they still posses anger. Personally I'm not impressed just because they are Shaolin or because they are buddhist. People impress me with their character, not with their titles.

anything involving humans has its bad apples but the fact that they strive to better themselves as humans is all i need to respect them...picture is funny but why was that guy bothering him? he knows he was meditating.....i wouldn't bother someone while they're practicing something...shows his character if you ask me......btw im just going by what i see in that picture

There are many 31st Gens in Dengfeng. It shouldn't be that hard to meet one. The 30 Gens. Those are a little harder to meet as there aren't as many of them. I mention all the 30 Gens I've met in my book.

One of the most accurate and truthful statement/post I have ever read. Lets just say the "monks" live a certain way of life/beliefs while they are in China. Then when they move away to different countries suddenly all the buddhist philosophy and principles rapidly disappear. A total transformation. Yes, they are human just like anyone else but that excuse for bad conduct is totally unacceptable. Especially since they are presenting themselves as buddhist monks.

Lets just say, depending where you live, you can find traditional/buddhism/culture anywhere not just in China. Don't think that you have to go to China to experience this. Whether it's a good idea to go and learn is up to you. I would research thoroughly and then make a decision.
