After you develop bad habits, trying to get rid of them is much more difficult than if you'd spent more time and effort at the beginning making sure the basics were solid.
Another thing I do that I wish I'd done earlier is keep a technique list that is as complete as possible, and make sure I review everything regularly. I learned some forms and things early in my MA career that are totally gone now because I wasn't being good enough about regularly reviewing old material.
I also started keeping a training blog in September, and that is proving to be a very helpful exercise.

i guess we should all be wearing loin cloths and spearing our dinner and dropping off when we're 30 of smallpox aswell?Who are we to IMPROVE time honored techniques? What we do is modify them to work BEST for US as an INDIVIDUAL. I don't think that's considered IMPROVING....as this implies something was wrong with the techniques. so for one man to come along after 200 years or so and say HE improved what's been working for that long is kinda arrogant.
