    Gold in Fei Yan Zhang

Fei Yan Zhang (flying goose palms), in my opinion, is one of the more interesting sets of Qixing Tanglangquan. Within the first four movements we have a very important fighting principle: retreating while continuing to launch attacks at the opponent.

The excerpt found below is a translation of WHF's book on Fei Yan Zhang available at http://www.kungfulibrary.com/ The book is a translation of the movements only. It does not translate the usage of the techniques, nor does it include the important Qixing information found at the end of WHF's book. Though for what they are charging, the book is still a steal. BTW, they have also translated WHF's Lohan Gong.

Spread wings in Circle Entering Stance
Step rightward right foot to make circle entering stance, push both hands forward from waist; right hand in front, and left hand rear.

    Lift Leg and Push Forward
Stand up and lift right foot, block right hand upward over your forehead, push forward left palm.

Right Palm Upward in Hill Climbing Stance
Stamp down right foot and pull back left foot to make right hill climbing stance. Bend left elbow and keep left forearm horizontal to block. Chop down right arm with palm upward.

    Piercing Punch in Withdraw Stance
Step back left foot half step in hill climbing stance (this is a common stance in Praying Mantis). Pierce left palm forward while step back, withdraw right palm to waist and then punch out forward, keep left palm close to right shoulder.

The brilliance found within the mantis forms never ceases to amaze me.
