Kung Fu Komedy has closed
The world famous Shanghai comedy venue is shut until further notice

Pour one out for Kung Fu Komedy. The Shanghai comedy institution that helped pave the way for the growth of stand-up comedy across China has sadly closed its doors.
The club hasn't held a show for the past three weeks and is yet to release an official statement about the reason for its closure. A banner on the homepage of the KFK website simply reads: 'We are currently not operating.'
Founded in 2010, KFK has attracted international talent from all over the world, more recently including the likes of Mark Normand and Kyle Kinane. It has also been a breeding ground for Shanghai-based talent looking to make a name for themselves across Asia and beyond, such as Mohammed Magdi and Norah Yang.
While this is by no means the end for KFK – those involved are still hopeful for the club to make a return at some point in the not too distant future – for the time being, it is shut until further notice. With other popular venues such as Specters and Elevator also closing their doors, it seems to be all change in Shanghai. Change for the better? We aren't so sure...
