I don't want a Chinese name. I'm a white American guy. It would make NO sense.

why would it make no sense? It's more or less a nickname.
Why do Lion Dance? Why give consideration to Sifu or your Sihing(s)?

Seriously, your attitude is fairly exclusionary and devalues the worth of relationships in context to learning something that is indeed a cultural artifact. Kung Fu that is.

    OK then.

You are entitled to your attitude and opinion.
But the thread was "what's your chinese name?" and not "why have one"

My ancestry is Japanese, so when I lived in Taiwan, my name in Chinese was Shan-Nei Feng, which is simply the Chinese translation of my last and middle names.

Being white and American has nothing to do with it. Not being in China might have something to do with it.

Chinese language doesn't accept foreign words as well as, say, English or Japanese. White American guys definitely get a Chinese name here, and its not ****y.

True story: in Japan, I tried my best not to use my last name パーズリ which is a little too close to パイズリ. I'll let any Nihongophiles try to penetrate that one.

Ok... I'm a white American guy who doesn't live in China. And my GM speaks perfect English. Of course I learned some Cantonese in order to make more sense out of my training, but a name? Not really necessary.
