    Cordyceps...Medicinal Shrooms...

    Anyone with ideas, thanks!

What do you all think about Cordyceps? I remember having some in some medicine at one time in China. Worked well at the time. But I didn't have very much of it.

I just want to know who the heck figured out that cordyceps could be used a performance enhancing substance.

At the time I had an extremely nasty cough. Long story short, I ended up at an herbs market with a monk getting a formula filled for jook. I remember seeing the "cordyceps," and asked my friend what it was. He said it was a mushroom, obviously, and that it was necessary to make my cough go away.

I just remember it working really well quick. Before that if I ever had a cough (which anyone will have at some point living in China) I would just go get that ground up ginseng mix in packets, or I would drink some good snake wine.

    Anyways, I miss Mountain Yam...

Heard it was someone in Tibet watched yaks eat it and then watched the yaks mate like weasels in heat.

    Who knows....

    Its a very good herb.

    Dale,

I started to put an Attn. to you in this thread actually.

You really think it is a good herb? Why is it good?

How much is it here in the States, and is it readily availabe at herb shops? I know of a few markets that I went to in China had various kinds of it for outrageous prices.

Now that I think of it, just for eating in jooks and that I really miss some good Mountain Yam. Always made my insides feel cool but refreshed...I miss some good Yam...

It should be always used in combination with "other herbs" and is excellent for jook!
It should rarely be used as a single herb and if so, it must be prescribed by a TCM professional. Used as a single herb will produce "empty heat" and thus, over time will cause auditory and visual problems from mild to severe, based on its "purity" (soil quality) and location.

    That's a great tale, Dale

I guess there's not much to do in Tibet but watch yaks bang.

Who knows how they figured out a lot of this information for herbs.

Suffice to say modern research has borne out that many of these herbs actually do what they claimed to do for centuries.

    Not bad....

And I would rather train my Dumo than watch yaks bang, but that is just me....

    Oh come on now...

Have you ever seen yaks bang? I mean live, not on some Animal Planet show. I've seen camels and rhinos bang at the zoo and let me tell you, that's entertainment!

    Okay, I'll bite

What is up with watching all the people? You mean live right? Video doesn't really count.
