    nice to see where he's coming from;

    however, he propagates the myth that when you use so-called "internal" power that you are not using muscles to move and generate power; sorry, but this is physiologically impossible: when you move, you use muscle; however, the way in which you use muscle can be very different, and when you function out of a so-called "internal" context, you are coordinating muscles with each other and with non-contractile connective tissue in a way that generates this phenomenon;

    also, when he talks about using the spine, this is also a bit of an artifact: the spine, or rather the muscles around it, is always being used; the key is activating spinal musculature in a way that creates a coordinated firing sequence through the core spinal musculature that is sequenced with the peripheral muscles; specifically, the way the spinal multifidi organize their contractions is a basic component of this; that's why he can demonstrate on his heels, on one leg and in the air, because he is using multifidi to "unite" spinal function, and as a base of support is using pelvic floor (one of three primary transverse diaphragms in the body, the other two being respiratory and cranial / tentorium cerebelli) and that is what all the internal mumbo-jumbo is really about: coordinating transverse diaphragm movement with the breath, coordinated spinal movement, respiratory functions of the arches of the feet (anyone who has read Chuang Tzu will recall his comment that "the superior man breathes down to his heels") and coordinated response to ground reaction force travelling up through the connective tissue structure of the body (if you really want to see yin / yang principles at work in the body, go read up on tensegrity and its relationship to the continuous tension / discontinuous compression properties of connective tissue - it explains pretty much everything that Cama is talking about in terms of shock power, vibration, root, etc.);
    and this is what sam bo gin (or any so-called "internal" form) trains and why it "works"; and when you function out of this you get that resilient balanced tension Cama is demonstrating when he assumes the mantis spirit...

    Muscle

    Of course your using muscle whenever you move. The point is to use muscle (it's contraction) as slight as possible. This allows the internal to travel through the bone marrow. ********y power increases the internal.

    Americans absorbed shaolin kung fu about 20 years ago. You are late too.

    Pak Mei killed everyone in Shaolin temple, including Jee Shin, but then Hung Hei Gun's kid mixed his father's tiger and his mother's crane and killed him with a punch to the top of his head, then he rolled down some stairs, but he was so powerful that even though he was dead he taught all of Bill's girlfriends kung fu and then Daryl Hannah poisoned him, but since he was a myth it doesn't matter

    nope, sorry, not about minimizing contraction at all: it's about coordinating contraction, which makes it seem ike you are minimizing it - the analogy is driving with one foot on the brake and one on the gas - you "feel" it more because there is mroe resistance; when you drive just with the foot on the gas, you don't feel it the same way because you are not creating as much internal resistance; so when you have balanced agonist / antagonist function and you coordinate that with connective tissue respiration, that's your internal

    and it's not about reducing it down to bone marrow either (although bone marrow is a form of deep connectiv tissue), it's coordinated response of all connective tissue inthe entire system; here: chew on this for a while, it may help you get a more comprehensive viewpoint

    I was not specifically talking about you or the people in the clips so untwist your panties. My comment was referring to shock power being used in sparring IN GENERAL.

    Sam, look back over the thread, if you dare, LOL !
    NO ONE is doubting Sifu Cama's skill, that is the point actually.
    I speak only for myself when I say I dislike clips like the one Sifu Cama was in, those types of forms are not my "cup of tea".
    As for your points, and to echo seven star, boxers and other fighters do that all the time too.
    "shock power" is nothing new in striking MA, it is "kime' in the JMA as I am sure you know.
    See, systems liek boxing and MT ( 2 examples) have them too, they just don't give it a name like TCMA do.
    That doesn't change the fact that, IF we had seen ANYONE other than Sifu Cama ( or another reputable Sifu) doing a form like that, we WOULD have been all over them for BS.
    We can't deny that.

    It doesn't actually work that way Sam, your bodies uses as much or as little ( muscle) as needed for a specific task.
    As we get better at doing something we need less "strength" to do it because not only do we find the most economical way of doing it, we actually become stronger doing it over time and as such, our effort is less.
    See, if you have to lift 200lbs and it takes YOU "all" of your muscles (100% effort) and it takes someone else less than that (80%) it doesn't mean they are more internal than you, just stronger or better, typically BOTH.

    Thumbs down Respect

    To Sanjuro_ronin and MysteriousPowers,
    James Cama Sifu shows everyone respect and when asked his opinion on someone always states that it's different. As far as his performance being B.S., flinging boogers, or gay it is both of you cowards that say this without giving a name. Everyone has a right to their opinion to discuss logically and intelligently but you two were insulting and degrading. Again I ask from what experience are you speaking from. James Cama Sifu is out there showing a very rare form of Kung Fu and if you think it doesn't work come out and see us. By the way what were your names again?
