Surely a proper ninja doesn't steal arrow tips from Walmart...

As for those shuriken, he shoulda tossed them.

    ba-dum-pum!

Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitress.

Shoplifting suspect caught with ninja stars

    POSTED September 9, 2014 8:00 p.m.

A Turlock man stopped for shoplifting arrow tips from Walmart on Monday was found in possession of Shuriken knives, also known as ninja throwing stars, the Turlock Police Department reported.

The suspect, identified as Lance Mitchell, 30, was taken into custody around 9 p.m. Monday at the Walmart store at 2111 Fulkerth Rd.

Mitchell is suspected of previously stealing items from the store by hiding them in his motorcycle helmet and fleeing on a motorcycle before police arrive, according to the police department.

On Monday, loss prevention agents from the store recognized him and watched as he hid several arrow tips in his helmet and then made for the exit. He was stopped before he could escape and detained until the police arrived.

A search of Mitchell revealed he was in illegal possession of the ninja throwing stars.

Mitchell was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and a weapon offense.

Polygamist Ninja Wives defeated by Samurai Wannabe!

The Guardian said that on Saturday . . .
Two armed “polygamist women” dressed like “ninjas” were subdued by a sword-wielding man during a home invasion, according to police in suburban Utah.
“Another adult male joined the fray in defense of the first male victim. He was armed with a sword, and using a sword … and with the other male [was] able to subdue the two women until police arrived and took them into custody.”

    I know, right?

Waiting on more follow up on the Polygamist Ninja Wives (great name for a band that).

    Meanwhile, here's the tree ninja:
    Hank Investigates: "Tree Ninja"
    Posted: Sep 23, 2014 12:43 PM PDT
    Updated: Sep 23, 2014 8:23 PM PDT
    Reported by Hank Phillippi Ryan
    Local News -- Metro Boston

BOSTON (WHDH) - A local community in fear and anger--as one of their own neighbors seems determined to destroy their property--and not even the police can stop him! What this guy is doing is illegal and shocking--and Hank got him caught on camera. You wont believe what you're about to see as Hank investigates--"the tree ninja."

Boston police say this man attacks his victims with axes and hammers. Here he is, caught by a neighbors surveillance camera-in the act.

Yuly Mekler, Brighton Resident: "I think that he is dangerous."

Brian McLaughlin, Brighton Resident: "It's been going on and on and on."

And officials are powerless to stop it.

Yuly Mekler: "All the police know but they can't do anything"

It's not people the police say Brighton resident Joe Rizza is harming, it's trees! Police reports say Rizza dresses in black, like a ninja, then, under cover of darkness he attacks the trunks of neighborhood trees with a hammer or ax--listen…

And then? He then disappears in to the night.

Several of his Brighton neighbors say they have seen him do it, even caught him, time after time.

Hank: "Have you said, 'why are you doing this?'"
    Yuly Mekler: "Yes."
    Hank: "And what happens?"
Yuly Mekler: "He turns and runs."

Eventually, the trees die--and though he's been repeatedly charged with malicious destruction of property and even was court-ordered to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet--neighbors say the attacks continued.

Hank: "That is what he does?"
Yuly Mekler: "Yes. That is what he does."

Here's proof, residents are terrified of where the "tree ninja" will attack next--they've actually created wood and chicken wire barricades to keep him away.

    Hank: "That's bizarre."
    Yuly Mekler: "Yeah, that's bizarre."

The City initially replaced the ninja victims--costing so far about 4300 taxpayer dollars--but now, the City says, they simply can't keep replanting.

    Hank: "Why?"
Greg Mosman, City of Boston Arborist: "Because he's gonna do it again."

Look: So here's what Winship Street used to look like, see that tree on the left? And now it's gone.

Rizza's now been charged--again- that's why he was in Brighton Court this day--but he wasn't answering any of our questions.

Hank: "Mr. Rizza? Why do you chop the trees?"
    (Joseph Rizza: Doesn't answer.)

His father admitted his son has a problem.

Hank: "So why does he do it, has he told you why he does it?"
Tony Rizza, Joseph Rizza's Father: (pointing to head) "Mental, mental."

And his mother--simply ordered us to go away.

But for now neighbors watch and barricade and wonder if there will be another attack.
Ninjas are odd. This time of year, I miss Ninjastar.

Polygamous women in 'ninja' apparel charged in home attack

2 women arrested in alleged home invasion, attack

WEST JORDAN — Two women who police say are involved in a polygamous relationship with a man accused of raping a child allegedly dressed as ninjas and broke into the house where the girl was sleeping.

Tylynn Southwick, 19, and Raven Blackwing, 22, were each charged Thursday with aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, retaliation against a witness or victim, a third-degree felony, and aggravated assault, a third-degree felony. Bail for each was set at $1 million cash only.

Prosecutors believe both women broke into a house last week where the girl was staying, just four days before she was scheduled to testify against her alleged attacker.

On Sept. 19, a man staying at the house in West Jordan heard the upstairs floor creaking just before 4 a.m. He went to investigate and was confronted by two people dressed all in black, including black masks and black latex gloves.

"The two individuals lunged at (the man), putting their hands towards his throat," the charges filed in 3rd District Court state.

Another man in the house heard the commotion and went to assist. When he did, one of the intruders went after him with a stun gun and grazed his arm, according to the charges. The man was able to wrestle the woman to the floor and hold her until police arrived.

Arriving officers found Southwick was being held down by one of the men, while the other was holding Blackwing at bay on the couch with a samurai sword, the charges state.

Investigators found the two women were in possession of a knife, a large piece of cellophane, matches, a screwdriver, syringes, and Formalin, according to the charges. Police say Formalin is a strong chemical used to knock people out.

Also inside the home at the time was a 14-year-old girl who was asleep. The girl is the alleged rape victim of Kain Blackwing. He was charged in July with one count of rape, a first-degree felony. The girl was scheduled to testify against him at his preliminary hearing, according to police.

That court hearing, which was scheduled for Tuesday, was continued. A scheduling hearing was set for Nov. 6.

Court documents list Raven Blackwing as Kain Blackwing's wife and Southwick as his "girlfriend." West Jordan police, however, say both women claim Kain Blackwing is their husband.

You gotta know what a juggalo is...

Ask a Juggalo: Why do some Juggalos call each other ninja?
    By Vinnie Monaster

Vinnie Monaster, 34, is a longtime Juggalo living in Roseville. He's better known as Vinnie the ICP Kid, who was interviewed in his bedroom "museum" in the 1997 ICP film Shockumentary.

Q: Why do Juggalos call each other ninja? What does that mean?

A: Aww, that's fresh. This goes all the way back to the beginning, to the beginning to the philosophy of Psychopathic Records. It's a compliment. To use the word ninja is a lot of honor, and you gotta be real skillful and real tactful. To be a ninja, you are a master of the arts. And it's not smoke and mirrors; this isn't some kind of hocus-pocus. It's the real deal. Being able to show up and literally have nothing in your pocket but be able to help someone or be able to be real cool. All of a sudden, somebody is hooking you up. They're figuring out a way to get you into the show. Whether it's a little bit of help from this person or a little bit of help from that person, it's amazing. Just to be a ninja, you're not just extremely down with the clown, you're a master, whether it's making sure that you're spreading the word and getting other Juggalos involved or explaining the benefits and the fun that's involved in being a Juggalo. Making it to the shows and listening to the music and spreading the good word. To be a ninja, that is so old-school. That's what I consider myself. I'm an old-school ninja. Flat out. Right off the bat, you're probably not a ninja. You have to have the skills. Once you've really found yourself and once you're really, really getting everything out of it that you want, that is truthfully being a ninja. Pulling out all [the] stops. It's really simple as far as — you could either just get by or go through the motions and that's completely acceptable, or you could be rocking the full ability to make everything around you better and to not be missing the mark. And just be schooling it. It takes skills, heart, loyalty, vision, if you will. Leadership. — mt

Eddie Ray Routh, accused of killing “American Sniper” author and Navy SEAL Chris Kyle

Most of the time, I enjoy when martial news items are topical. However, not this one.

Former Girlfriend and Sister of Chris Kyle’s Accused Killer Testify
by Sarah Rumpf 19 Feb 2015 Stephenville, TX16

Defense attorneys for Eddie Ray Routh, accused of killing “American Sniper” author and Navy SEAL Chris Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield, continued to present their case on Wednesday, calling Routh’s former girlfriend and then his sister to testify. Routh has admitted killing the two men but has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Routh is accused of shooting and killing Kyle and Littlefield at a shooting range in February 2013, where the two men had brought him to help work through the post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) Routh was reported to had suffered since serving in the Iraq war and in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.

Routh’s sister, Laura Blevins, testified that Routh had come to her home after the killings, according to a report by KXAN. Blevins described Routh as being “almost in a daze” and said that he had admitted to her that he had killed the two men.

“He said he took their souls before they could take his,” said Blevins. “I asked him what he meant by that, and he said they were out to get him.”

Routh had stolen Kyle’s truck and driven it to his sister’s home. Blevins testified that when she saw the truck, she feared that he was telling the truth. She begged him to turn himself in, but he refused and left her home. Blevins and her husband then called the police, who later tracked down Routh and arrested him. Video from Routh’s arrest and jailhouse interview was played earlier in the trial.

As Breitbart Texas reported, evidence was also presented that Routh was on multiple anti-psychotic medications and had been hospitalized three times for mental health issues. On Wednesday, Blevins testified that she had distanced herself from Routh after his last hospitalization, out of fear that he posed a danger to her family. She also described his behavior that day as “not who I know as my brother,” according to a report by NBC News.

Routh’s former girlfriend, Jennifer Weed, also testified that, just a few days before he killed Kyle and Littlefield, he had exhibited bizarre, frightening behavior, including threatening her with a ninja sword, calling her a demon, and claiming that he heard voices and saw things that were not there.

Routh asked her to marry him the night before the killings, she said. She testified that they argued the next morning, and then Routh smoked marijuana while he waited for Kyle to show up for their planned outing to the shooting range.

Defense attorneys face an uphill battle to establish that Routh was legally insane at the time of the killings. “As in most cases where the insanity defense is raised, the odds of success are daunting,” criminal defense attorney Brian Wice told Breitbart Texas, “especially in this case where the victim is widely perceived to be a true American hero [like Kyle].”

Wice, who practices law in Houston, further explained how both sides would likely proceed with their strategy. “The defense will likely focus on a trio of factors: expert psychiatric testimony that the accused’s severe mental disease or defect precluded him from knowing that his conduct was wrong, lay testimony from the accused’s friends and family corroborating his protracted history of bizarre and seemingly inexplicable behavior, and the narrative that the facts of the case are the compelling barometer of the accused’s inability to distinguish right from wrong.”

“The prosecution will likely counter this evidence in rebuttal with its own psychiatric expert to show that not every degenerating mental disease or defect, including PTSD, rises to the level of insanity, especially where the accused exacerbates his mental state by using drugs and alcohol,” concluded Wice.

Kyle was a Navy SEAL and the most lethal sniper in American military history, serving four tours in Iraq. He received multiple commendations for his service before being honorably discharged from the Navy in 2009. A native Texan, Kyle was born in Odessa and returned to Texas after leaving the Navy. His memoir, American Sniper, was turned into a blockbuster film directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Bradley Cooper. To honor his life and service, Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared February 2nd to be Chris Kyle Day, as Breitbart Texas reported.

The trial is scheduled to reconvene on Thursday, with the defense planning to call mental health experts to testify. Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty, so Routh is facing a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole, if he is convicted of capital murder. Breitbart Texas will continue to follow this story.

That's been nearly unbelievable. Those fellas underestimated just how freaky he was. I do not think the insanity defense should come rubber stamped or its a bad precedent. It needs to be combed through and challenged on all points and if necessary, more defined legal designations. It can't become the catch-all freebie, this case is a little high profile.

    ‘Black Ninja’ gets three years

Skowhegan ‘Black Ninja’ burglar gets three years
Jonathan Strickland, sentenced to prison for two burglaries, bragged that he couldn't be caught.
    By Doug Harlow Staff Writer
    dharlow@centralmaine.com | @Doug_Harlow | 207-612-2367

SKOWHEGAN — A man sentenced to three years in prison Wednesday for burglaries and theft last year had taunted one of his victims in a note in which he said he was a ‘Black Ninja’ who couldn’t be caught.

Jonathan M. Strickland, 25, of Skowhegan, was convicted on two counts of burglary, two counts of theft — both class C felonies — and his probation was revoked.

    Strickland

Strickland was sentenced to 36 months in prison for the probation revocation and 32 months for the burglaries and thefts, all to run at the same time, Skowhegan Police Chief Ted Blais said Thursday.

Police investigating a burglary at the Pak Lee Chinese Restaurant on Madison Avenue Oct. 16 examined a video that showed the burglar “wearing a distinctive mask” entering the building, Blais said. The mask was made from black fabric with eye slits — Ninja style — he said.

The burglar stole money from the cash register and liquor bottles, he said.

The same day, Skowhegan police responded to another burglary and theft of cash at the nearby Skowhegan State Fairgrounds office, where a note was found saying, “You can’t keep out the Black Ninja,” according to Blais.

“We think he made up the name on his own, at least he never told anybody why he called himself that,” Blais said.

Blais said people in Skowhegan told detectives that Strickland had been calling himself the Black Ninja and had been bragging about committing other burglaries in the area.

Police carried out a search warrant Oct. 23 at Strickland’s apartment and found a Ninja-style mask like the one worn in the Pak Lee burglary along with liquor bottles with the same brand and stickers stolen from the restaurant, Blais said.

The Maine Department of Corrections Division of Adult Community Corrections assisted in the execution of the search warrant, Blais said. Strickland was arrested at that time for a revocation of his probation and had been in jail since his arrest. Strickland was due to be released from probation just weeks before his arrest.

Police found that Joseph Kireburns, 23, of Skowhegan, had also been involved in the Fairgrounds burglary, acting as Strickland’s lookout. Kireburns pleaded guilty to burglary and theft and was sentenced to three years in prison with all but 60 days suspended and two years of probation.

“We must give credit to the public for giving us information,” Blais said.

Clearly a ninja even though the report doesn't say so

Concealed wrist and waist knives? "Martial arts" throwing stars? She had like 8 concealed knives. Ninja. Definitely.

Woman With Knives, Martial Arts Stars Arrested Outside Hospital

CANTON, Ohio (AP) — Police in Ohio say a woman with concealed knives and martial arts throwing stars was arrested outside a hospital, and a man who worked there had a protection order against her.

A Canton police report says 51-year-old Regina Lynn Bollerud was waiting outside a door at Mercy Medical Center on Tuesday morning.

The report says Bollerud had two knives concealed on her right wrist, plus two more knives and four throwing stars on her waist. Officers also found four more knives, an auto glass-breaking tool and a bottle of pills in her purse.

She’s been charged with violating the domestic violence protection order, carrying concealed weapons and drug possession.

She’s in jail with a $100,000 bond. Records didn’t say if she had an attorney who could comment on the accusations.

    Brighton Tree Ninja busted

See post 19. What? Were they pirate trees?

Boston Police Catch Brighton Tree Ninja Damaging Shrubbery After Vandal Refuses To Turn Over A New Leaf
    Josephine B. Yurcaba
    @JoYurcaba
    22 hours ago News

Boston police told the Associated Press they arrested a 65-year-old man whom they believe is the infamous “Brighton Tree Ninja.” For several years, newly planted trees and shrubbery in Boston’s Brighton neighborhood have been damaged, but police were unable to get to the root of the case and find the perpetrator. According to The Boston Globe, police set up surveillance cameras around a parking lot near the Brighton Elks Lodge (the article doesn’t specify if this was a frequent place where the ninja attacked), and eventually caught Joseph Rizza entering the empty lot and attempting to chop a tree down with hammer.

Rizza was charged with five counts of willful and malicious destruction of property and one count possession of a dangerous weapon. According to Gawker, police said in a statement:

This investigation was part of an ongoing operation seeking to identify and apprehend the individual(s) who for several years has been killing trees in the Brighton area and eluded capture. Over the past several years this ‘Brighton Tree Ninja,’ would either chop down or damage beyond saving, young trees that were planted in Brighton.

Allegedly, this wasn’t Rizza’s first time being caught vandalizing trees. According to the Globe, he was ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device in March and was given a curfew after being charged with vandalizing a tree in another part of the Brighton neighborhood.

Now, he’s being held on the new charges under a $7,000 bail. But according to Jake Wark, spokesman for Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley, Rizza won’t be released for at least 60 days, even if he posts bail, because he violated the conditions of his release in the March case and refused to turn over a new leaf.

Wark praised investigators and good, old-fashioned neighborhood watch for catching this alleged shrub slayer. The neighborhood’s shrubs can photosynthesize peacefully now that, in the words of the Globe, this case as been “nipp[ed] in the bud.”

“It started with input from Brighton residents, continued with the strategic deployment of public safety cameras, and resulted in charges that could otherwise have been very challenging to prove,” he told the Globe.

According to the AP, police are investigating Rizza in connection with other tree vandalism over the past several years. If this were a Criminal Minds episode, the agents might say that this perpetrator was acting out — getting more and more reckless in his attacks because he was pining to be caught.

    Rashane Jackson

There's a vid if you follow the link.

Accused ninja burglar agrees to pay back $1,800
Deal means no jail time for Rashane Jackson
    Published 7:52 PM MDT Apr 21, 2015

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —A man accused of dressing as a ninja and violently robbing a terminally ill person will not see any jail time, but under his plea deal will have to pay back the money he’s charged with stealing.

The victim in the case, Daniel Levine, said he still hasn’t seen a dime.

“For somebody who doesn't have any money, or a lot of money, that hurt very badly,” said Levine.

Rashane Jackson was charged in the case. Earlier this month, Jackson pleaded no contest in a deal that means he will not serve any jail time. Instead, Jackson will be on probation for the next 10 years and has to pay back the nearly $1,800 he took from Levine’s safe.

    Levine agreed to the deal.

“Give him a second shot because he's a young kid. He did a stupid thing,” said Levine.

Levine said he has yet to receive any money, however.

A spokeswoman for the New Mexico Department of Corrections said Jackson’s probation officer will work with him to set up a payment plan based on his income, which usually takes at least a month. She said if Jackson stops making payments, he could go to prison.

As he waits for payment, Levine said his health is only getting worse. He’s counting on the money he says is rightfully his.

Free ninja stars in Surprise 5 juices

Hold the phone....if it's not a ninja star, what is that exactly?

Mum inadvertently buys young daughter ninja star
    29th Apr 2015 5:00 AM Updated: 6:49 AM
Maryborough mum Rebecca Sutcliffe was a little concerned when her six-year-old found a toy resembling a ninja star in her juice.

IS it a toy or a weapon?

That is what Maryborough's Rebecca Sutcliffe was left wondering when her daughter Eden Churchill, 6, opened her juice bottle, called a Surprise 5 because of its promise of a toy inside its detachable cup, to find what appeared to them to be a ninja star inside.

When Ms Sutcliffe had bought the juice bottles in the past, the toy had always been something funny or cute - but the star shaped item with serrated metal edges had her thinking of a weapon rather than a children's toy.

Ms Sutcliffe said at first she had thought the toy might be a spinning top and tried to twist it - but it cut into her fingertips with its points.

The toy in question features serrated metal edges.

She said its resemblance to a ninja star was also concerning as it may appear to be a projectile to children - especially since her daughter jokingly threw it toward her after assuming that is what the toy was.

Although instructions on the side of the bottle indicated that the toys were not suitable for children under 3 years of age, Ms Sutcliffe said she was still concerned.

Steel City Beverages, the company that imports the product, were contacted yesterday but did not provide a response by the time of going to press.

Contact was made with the Queensland Office of Fair Trading and a spokesperson said they encouraged parents who were concerned about a toy to make a complaint to their office.

"If possible, the complaint should include a sample of the product," the spokesperson said.

Ms Sutcliffe said she would send the item in to be assessed.

The spokesperson from the Office of Fair Trading said if the toy was found to be unsafe, steps would be taken with the supplier to rectify the problem.

"Depending on which mandatory safety standard requirement is failed, corrective actions might include amended safety warning labelling or the product being removed from sale and recalled," the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said that toys did not require approval from a governmental agency before they were able to be sold.

"However, the onus is on suppliers to ensure products they supply comply with mandatory safety standards," the spokesperson said.

"Significant penalties can apply where individuals or corporations breach product safety laws."

‘Polygamous ninja’ Raven Blackwing sentenced to prison after break-in, sword fight

WEST JORDAN, Utah – One of the women dubbed as part of the “polygamous ninjas” has been sentenced to prison after breaking into a person’s home and trying to interfere with a rape trial.

The judge sentenced 22-year-old Raven Blackwing, also known as Raven Baker or Madeline Baker, to up to 15 years behind bars Thursday.

According to court documents, Blackwing got one-to-15 years for the aggravated burglary last September.

She faces up to five years behind bars for retaliating against a witness in a rape trial and up to five years for the aggravated assault in West Jordan.

However, the judge said Blackwing’s sentences could run concurrently which means she could serve time for all of her offences at the same time.

The judge also gave her credit for the time she has already served behind bars, 223 days.

Authorities said Blackwing and 19-year-old Tylynn Southwick broke into a West Jordan home on Sept. 19 while armed but were subdued by the occupants of the home.

Court documents state the women were armed with a knife, a stun gun, a tourniquet and syringes along with a chemical intended to render someone unconscious when they broke into the home.

The documents state the women lunged at a man inside the home.

Officials said he fought the “polygamous ninja” duo and wound up removing one mask.

Documents state he said he recognized one of the suspects as a woman who had attended court hearings relating to a rape trial.

West Jordan Police said the women were after a witness who was to speak against a male suspect in the rape trial.

The victims said the two women are in a polygamous relationship with that suspect.

Documents state another man in the home heard yelling and came to help.

Authorities said he was able to subdue the two women until police arrived.

A responding officer stated they arrived to see one of the men holding down a suspect later identified as Southwick.

The document states Southwick “…was sitting on the couch dressed in all black, wearing a black mask and black latex gloves. Standing a few feet from [Blackwing] was [first man] holding a samurai sword.”
