    'kung fu star'

Cops: Teen took grandma’s vehicle, caught with ‘kung fu star’
by The Suffolk Times | 01/24/2017 4:55 PM

A Mastic teen is facing misdemeanor charges after he took his grandmother’s car for a ride without her permission and was later caught by police with a ‘kung fu star,’ according to a Southold Town police press release.

The vehicle was reportedly found on Fourth Avenue in Greenport about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, police said. Kahlil McMoore, 17, was found a short time later on Moore’s Lane in the village and was arrested. Police discovered he was in possession of the star, which classifies as a weapon.

The teen was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and criminal possession of a weapon, both misdemeanors, police said.
I thought only ninja stars were illegal, not 'kung fu stars'

    Blackwing Ninja Sister Wives

This story is just too weird.

Utah man charged for allegedly sending two of his wives dressed as ninjas to kill teen girl he sexually abused

A Utah man who has three wives and forced them to call him “Lord” has been charged for allegedly deploying two of them, dressed as ninjas, to try killing a teenager he sexually abused.

Kain Blackwing, 47, faces new charges for allegedly plotting the slaying of a girl he was already convicted of abusing.

Blackwing’s initial conviction came in 2014, when the girl was 14, according to KSL.

Four days before the girl was supposed to testify in court against Blackwing, two women dressed as ninjas — wearing black masks and guns, and armed with a stun gun, knife, screwdriver, matches, syringes and Saran wrap — broke into the girl’s West Jordan home.

The girl was staying there with her mother and the mother’s fiancé, who is Blackwing’s half-brother.

The couple fought off the so-called “polygamist ninjas,” with the fiancé using a sword in the household combat.

“She came at me with a stun gun, and I instinctively blocked it with my arm, and I hit her in the head, then proceeded to jump on top of her,” the fiancé recalled to KUTV about one of the ninjas.

“I grabbed my sword on the mantle, unsheathed it and told her to sit down, that if she moved, she would lose body parts,” he said.

The two ninjas turned out to be Raven Blackwing, 22, and a 19-year-old woman — both “sister-wives” of Blackwing. The engaged couple told police they recognized the attackers, even with the ninja disguises.

Raven Blackwing, one of the "sister-wives." (POLICE HANDOUT)

The ninjas told police Blackwing instructed them to kill the girl because he believed “the authorities would have to release him” if she died, charging documents say. They plotted the attempted murder for 11 weeks, using a code where the killing was called “playing a video game.” They referred to their targets with names like “Juggernaut," “Boss” and "Guards."

Both sister-wives were convicted of charges for aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and retaliation against a witness or victim. The teenage sister-wife was sentenced to probation, and Raven Blackwing was sentenced to up to 15 years in Utah State Prison.

New charges for Blackwing, who is already in jail, arrived Thursday. He was charged with solicitation for aggravated murder, conspiracy to commit aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder — all felonies.

Blackwing is already embroiled in yet another pending case against him for his relationship with the younger sister-wife convicted for the attempted murder.

He met that woman when she was 17 and started a sexual relationship with her, police said. Blackwing allegedly told the woman to call him “Lord” and that “if he ever bonded with a woman she became his and the only way out of the relationship was death,” charging documents state.

He eventually claimed her as one of his wives.

For that case, Blackwing faces charges of rape, forcible sodomy and forcible sexual abuse, and he is scheduled for a court hearing Feb. 28.

Shane Oakden appeared as a contestant on a TV gameshow in 2015

A college lecturer who appeared on a TV gameshow has been jailed for three years for grooming a 13-year-old schoolgirl via social media.
Shane Oakden, 45, from Lincoln, sent naked photos and videos of himself and asked the girl to do the same.
Lincoln Crown Court heard he knew the girl's age but told her "age doesn't matter when you're having fun".
The former Ninja Warrior UK contestant admitted three sex offences between July and September last year.

Oakden, of Wentworth Way, who appeared on the ITV show in 2015, was caught when the victim's mum checked her daughter's phone after she became concerned with her behaviour.
    Victim 'needed counselling'
Prosecutor Victoria Rose said: "The phone was handed over to police. Messages were recovered from the girl's phone.
"He was requesting she send him naked photographs of herself.
"On the phone there was one of her in her underwear and one of her naked that had been sent to the defendant."
Ms Rose told the court Oakden encouraged the victim to meet him and stay a night in a hotel.
He also told her "what he would like to do with her sexually".
She said the teenager had been so badly affected she ran away from her parents and had to have counselling.
Oakden, a body builder, pleaded guilty to two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and one of inciting the sexual exploitation of a child.

    Another Kung Fu Star

Lowville man accused of possessing kung fu star
PUBLISHED: THURSDAY, APRIL 13, 2017 AT 12:30 AM

LOWVILLE — A Lowville man on Tuesday was accused of possessing a four-bladed kung fu star at his residence.
Village police charged Dustin J. LaBarge, 29, with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He is to answer the charge in Lowville Village Court.
If this keeps up, we should appropriate stars just like we have nunchuks. And I'm gonna copy this into an indie thread if a third one emerges.

This is why kids should use rubber ninja stars.

Schoolgirl is hit in the head by a NINJA STAR after a classmate accidentally threw the blade into the classroom

Wenwen, a pupil in China, has survived after being struck by the ninja star
A classmate was playing with the metal 'toy' and threw it in from the window

An 11-year-old schoolgirl has survived after one of her classmates threw a ninja star into her head by accident, according to media.

A blade was said to be stuck in the pupil's head by two centimetres (0.8 inches) as she was taken to the hospital in eastern China earlier this week.

Surgeons removed the sharp object after operating on the girl for an hour.

The 11-year-old girl was hit in the head by a ninja star when she was in her classroom in China

A CT scan shows the ninja star was stuck in the girl's head by two centimetres (0.8 inches)

The incident took place at a school in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, on June 7, according to the provincial television broadcaster.

The girl, nicknamed Wenwen, was said to be working on her school assignment when she was hit by the metal ninja star.

The object is said to have flown into the classroom through the window and hit the sixth-grade pupil. The sharp object struck her head from the left side and became lodged in her skull.

It's reported that a classmate of Wenwen's was playing with the ninja star, which has been described as a toy by Chinese media.

The classmate threw 'the toy' into the classroom by accident.

One of her classmates was apparently playing with the sharp object, which has been desribed as a toy. The blade was removed from the girl's skull after an hour-long operation

Wenwen was taken to the Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine immediately.

The school also informed Wenwen's parents.

Dr Shen Zhipeng, a neurosurgeon, told a reporter: 'The ninja star is made of metal and it certainly does not look like a children's toy.'

Dr Shen did a computerised tomography (CT) scan for Wenwen. The scan confirmed that the blade had been stuck in Wenwen's skull for about two centimetres.

'We provided two suggestions to the parents. One was surgical debridement, which is to pull out the ninja star directly; and the other was craniotomy, which is to open the skull and carry out a thorough inspection,' said Dr Shen.

The ninja star measures about 13 centimetres (5.1 inches) from one point to the opposite end

Wenwen's parents chose to have the ninja star pulled out directly.

Surgeons successfully removed the sharp object after performing an hour-long operation.

The ninja star has four blades and measures about 13 centimetres (5.1 inches) from one point to the opposite end.

Dr Shen explained that the blade had impaled the skull and reached the cerebrospinal fluid, a protective layer of tissue below the skull.

Wenwen is expected fully recover in three to five days if no infection is caused by the surgery, according to Dr Shen.

Ninja star is said to be popular among pupils at Wenwen's school. The shape of the particular ninja star is said to be inspired by popular Japanese manga Naruto.

Taobao.com, a Chinese e-commerce platform, sells similar ninja stars as toys.

Sellers claim the metal toy is suitable for anyone over 14 years old.

A ninja star toy sells for about 19.80 yuan (£2.29) on Taobao.

The report claimed that ninja star toys are usually not sharpened.

However, it's hard for authorities to inspect whether or not the buyers would sharpen the toys by themselves, as it's understood.

‘Ninjas’ break into apartment building before setting it on fire

The "ninjas" who allegedly set an apartment building on fire on Newark. Newark Police Department

A pair of firebug ‘ninjas’ broke into a Newark apartment building and began setting fires inside a second-floor home, Newark police said.

The arsonists — wearing black ski masks and full ninja-style outfits — sauntered into the new Cherry Park Apartments on Sylvan Avenue through the front door around 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 3, police said.

They rode the elevator to the second floor, where they made their way to an empty apartment without forced entry and started setting fires, NBC News 4 reported.

The stealthy pyromaniacs were able to slip out through a side door.

Witnesses told the news outlet they saw flames coming from a window of the building, and then saw two people clad in black walking away from the area.

    No one was reportedly injured.

    Not quite

This has spread across the newsfeed as a ninja just because he's dressed in black, but he doesn't look all that ninja-esque to me. Real ninjas wear ninja suits.

Owner prevents man dressed as ninja from robbing store

    FALL RIVER, Mass. (WJAR) —
A store owner in Fall River fought back when a man dressed as a ninja tried to rob him as customers, including a child, were trying to leave.
The attempted robbery happened Monday night at The Farm Market on Cherry Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, the owner said the suspect attacked him with a metal baton.
Store surveillance video shows the owner warding off the would-be thief, who was dressed in all black and wearing a mask, with a two-by-four stashed next to the register. He then chased the crook before out of the store and down the block.
“The first thing he said was, ‘give me the money,’ in a tough way,” Ahmad Abdulrahman, who owns the Farm Market, told NBC 10 News. “After I hit him, (he said,) ‘Oh please, just give me the money.’ OK. Take this then.”
Abdulrahman, who said he wasn’t scared. He survived the Syrian Civil War and is prepared to defend himself, as he said the neighborhood the store is in tends to get “wild and crazy” at times.
“At the beginning, I was afraid to hurt him -- then I would be liable,” Abdulrahman said. “Then they told me, ‘No, he’s in your house. You can kill him. Now I know it.’”
Abdulrahman said he hopes other criminals heed the warning on the front door, which asks customers not to wear, hoods, scarves, hats or sunglasses in the store. He also has a message for potential thieves.
"If you want to start something, be sure you’re going to accomplish it or don’t start it at all," he said.
While suspect left empty-handed, police are following leads based on the surveillance footage. No arrests have been made.

    Ninja of Heisei

74? Impressive. I'll be happi if I can still put on my tabi at 74.

Japanese police arrest 74-year-old ninja thief suspect
    25 October 2017

Japanese police say they have finally caught a prolific thief who dressed as a ninja to carry out raids - and were surprised to find he was 74.
After his usually covered face was caught on a security camera this year, he was put under surveillance which led to his arrest in July.
Police now believe he is the so-called "Ninja of Heisei", thought to have carried out more than 250 break-ins.
He has been charged with thefts worth 30m yen ($260,000; £200,000).
Police had been baffled by a series of burglaries over eight years carried out by a suspect wearing black, assuming they had been carried out by someone younger.
Investigators observed the suspect, whom they say seemed little different from most elderly men, during the day.
But they say he then went into an abandoned building and changed clothes before waiting until it got dark to steal.
"He was dressed all in black just like a ninja," a senior official in the western Japanese city of Osaka said.
Police said the thief displayed great physical ability, running effortlessly on top of walls instead of taking the streets.
After his arrest, the man was quoted as saying: "If I were younger, I wouldn't have been caught. I'll quit now as I'm 74 and old enough."

    Nasim Najafi Aghdam

Furious at YouTube, passionate about fitness and veganism: Shooter left a bewildering profile
By JAMES QUEALLY, RICHARD WINTON, SARAH PARVINI, TRACEY LIEN and PALOMA ESQUIVEL
    APR 04, 2018 | 12:40 PM

Nasim Najafi Aghdam takes part in an animal rights protest outside Camp Pendleton in 2009. (Charlie Neuman / San Diego Union-Tribune)

In one video, Nasim Najafi Aghdam refers to herself as a "ninja" before making a series of odd, stunted motions spliced between clips from the reality series "America's Got Talent." In another video, she sports a blond pixie-cut wig while mocking people who choose to eat meat.

Police are still trying to determine exactly what led the 39-year-old San Diego woman to bring a gun to YouTube's headquarters in San Bruno, Calif., where she shot and wounded three people Tuesday before killing herself. But the woman's fury with YouTube — which she believed was intentionally suppressing her quirky collection of dance, recipe and exercise clips — has emerged as the most likely motive, San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini told reporters Wednesday morning.

As the investigation unfolded Wednesday morning, questions lingered about what, if any, chance law enforcement officials might have had to intervene before the attack. Some family members have said they told police she was angry with YouTube and might have planned on traveling to the company's headquarters when they filed a missing person's report earlier this week.

Few of Aghdam's videos remain available online, as her Facebook and Instagram accounts were deactivated within hours of the shootings. Her personal website, titled "Nasime Sabz," which roughly translates to "green breeze" or "Nasim the green" also vanished. Aghdam's YouTube account had been shut down "due to multiple or severe violations" of the company's policies, but it was unclear when that ban took effect.

Nearly four dozen of Aghdam's videos remained viewable on the website Daily Motion until they were removed Wednesday morning. The footage is a strange pastiche of parody clips, workout videos and vegan recipe suggestions, many of which are flagged by a warning not to steal her content.

Pulsing electronic music plays in the background of several of the clips, as Aghdam stares expressionless at the camera, almost giving off the vibe of a nervous karaoke performance. She sometimes refers to herself as a "vegan athlete" before flexing muscles and launching into a series of pushups. In one video, she can been seen dancing and wearing a sheep mask in front of a picture of a frowning cow before the words "Go Vegan, Go Healthy & Humane" appear across the screen.

In a screed posted to a website that has become a subject of the investigation, Aghdam complained that YouTube employees had purposefully limited the number of people who viewed her videos, and criticized the practice of paying for "likes" and views on other social media platforms such as Instagram.

Her complaints about unfair compensation were similar to those of some YouTube creators who have publicly criticized the platform.

"There is no equal growth opportunity on YOUTUBE or any other video sharing site, your channel will grow if they want to!!!!!" she wrote.

About two weeks ago, Aghdam vented to her family that YouTube had stopped compensating her for her videos, her father told the Bay Area News Group. Ismail Aghdam said the family had called police Monday to report his daughter missing because she hadn't answered her phone for two days. He said he told police she might be going to YouTube because she "hated" the company.

A family member, who would not give her name, said Aghdam had been angry with YouTube for nearly a year because she felt the company was keeping her from spreading a message promoting a vegan lifestyle. Relatives called police to warn them about her frustrations.

"They said she was angry at YouTube, so be careful," the woman said, adding that police promised they would monitor Aghdam, "but they didn't."

"I'm so sorry for those people [she] shot," the woman said as she made her way through a throng of reporters to visit the family in Menifee, in Riverside County.

Aghdam entered the country as a refugee roughly two decades ago, the woman said, but would not say from where. In social media posts, Aghdam described herself as Iranian.

Lt. Karen Stubkjaer, the media relations director for the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, confirmed that a deputy took a missing persons report from Ismail Aghdam and entered that information into a national missing persons database on April 2. Stubkjaer would not confirm the father's account that he warned the Sheriff's Department about his daughter's anger toward YouTube, and did not answer additional questions about the incident.

Mountain View, Calif., police made contact with Aghdam about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, roughly 12 hours before the shooting, when they found her sleeping in a car with a license plate connected to the missing persons report. Officers contacted the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, which described Aghdam as "at risk" because she had never gone missing before, according to a statement issued by the Mountain View Police Department.

Aghdam told police she had left home due to family issues and was living out of her vehicle until she found a job. She did not "mention anything about YouTube, if she was upset with them, or that she had planned to harm herself or others," according to the statement.

"Throughout our entire interaction with her, she was calm and cooperative," the statement read.

Mountain View Police contacted Aghdam's father and brother after talking with her. The department said her relatives did not mention a potential threat against YouTube or the fact that Aghdam may have been armed. An hour later, Ismail Aghdam called police again to say that his daughter was upset that YouTube had "done something" to her videos, adding that the change might have been connected to her trip to the Bay Area.

"At no point did her father or brother mention anything about potential acts of violence or a possibility of Aghdam lashing out as a result of her issues with her videos," the statement read. "They remained calm throughout this second phone call."

Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Barberini said police were executing search warrants at two Southern California residences connected to Aghdam. Agents with the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were helping serve search warrants at several locations, including San Diego and Menifee. The warrants were obtained by the San Bruno Police Department, but the ATF was involved because of the "nexus of firearms," said Ginger Colbrun, ATF spokeswoman for Southern California.

Barberini said police were also searching Aghdam's vehicle. Aghdam apparently went to a local gun range and fired the weapon used in the attack on Tuesday morning, Barberini said. He described the weapon as a Smith & Wesson 9-millimeter handgun, which Aghdam was legally allowed to possess.

Barberini said she entered the YouTube campus through a parking garage, after parking her vehicle near a business close to the company's headquarters. Police have not established a specific link between Aghdam and the victims in Tuesday's shooting, and it was unclear if she shot randomly when she opened fire in the courtyard.

Two of the victims have been released from Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, according to a statement issued by the hospital. A third victim, identified only as a male in his 30s, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Foruzan Ghodrattolah, Aghdam's uncle, said he was shocked when he learned what his niece had done. Aghdam had dedicated her life to animals, according to her uncle, who said if she found an insect in her home she would not harm it.

"She would always take the insect outside and free it," Ghodrattolah said.

    Sai vs. TSA. Sai fails.

Paging the Ninja Turtles: TSA finds twin sai at Bush airport, weapons made famous by Raphael

Were the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Houston recently?

TSA posted a photo on Instagram of a pair of martial arts weapons found by agents on April 25 with the caption: "Raphael was so excited when he heard he could carry a pepperoni and pickles pizza that he forgot all about his twin sai. Raph was on his way to an all you can eat buffet. #TMNT"

TSA wrote that the sai were discovered in a carry-on bag at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Martial arts weapons are allowed on planes, TSA wrote, but they must be packed in checked bags only.

For the uninitiated, sai were made famous by Raphael of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The weapons have a long pointed tip, with two smaller protruding points near the handle.

The TSA did not report finding any katanas, bos, nunchucks or other evidence of Ninja Turtles coming through Houston.

    Ninja style moves?

JEFFERSON CITY - Prosecutors charged a man on Wednesday with unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest after he allegedly swung a sword near some people.

According to police, Crystopher Wright got into an argument with a group of people Wednesday afternoon on Madison Street. At the time Wright reportedly had a "ninja style sword," which he unsheathed as he walked toward the group.

The probable cause statement said Wright then "began to swing the sword around aggressively doing 'ninja style moves.'"

When police arrived, officers said Wright refused to put the sword down, despite their repeated commands. An officer used a Taser on Wright, and police took him into custody without further incident.
Thought you couldn't see ninja style moves. Cuz they're ninjas.

    sloppy

It's a sloppy ninja who gets called out by a city council member...unless it's a distracting ruse for some more devious ninja plot.

An Annapolis City Council member is cautioning constituents after a Ward 1 resident reported seeing a burglar dressed like a ninja.

Alderwoman Elly Tierney, D-Ward 1, sent a message to residents advising they secure windows and doors at their homes following the incident.

Tierney cautioned residents after police spokeswoman Sgt. Amy Miguez alerted her to the incident, which took place on the 100 block of East Street, between 6 p.m. Monday and 12:15 a.m. Tuesday.

An East Street resident said her dog started growling outside her home. She checked inside and found some of her belongings had been moved.

She checked a closet and discovered an intruder with a shotgun dressed in black spandex with a black and neon green cloth around his neck.

The woman told police the man looked “like a ninja,” police said.

She ran from her home and called police. The suspect also ran.

Police said the suspect is a black male between 6’ 1” and 6’ 5” and 200 to 220 pounds. He has a black beard and bushy hair, police said.

The man may have entered the woman’s home through an unlocked window or door.
