    Specialty of your Style

When you are very good or proficient in whatever you do, we may call you possess the skill or power almost god like or shen gong.

We may call you "god" of the long spear etc. god of gambling (du shen), god of medicine (yi shen) etc etc

if you are good at tai chi, you possess tai chi shen gong.

if you are good at archery, we may call you god of archery (jian shen).

so what is the specialy of you and your style?

sometimes. shen gong is only a goal or even fantasy. anyway. whoever possesses the best or most proficient skill, we still call him god of so and so, meaning he is the best in the field but not necesarily reaching the ideal goal or criteria.

Tai chi is known to follow the opponent's arm movement and steps. So Zhan nian lian shui. there are 4 skills to cultivate to reach that. it is almost like a shadow following you.

Ba Gua is known to follow even more closely just like a piece of clothing fitting and sticking to your body. it is called nian yi jin.

    ---

    so what is your specialty?

how to do your practice to be good (understanding) and then very good almost god like (shen gong)?

    SPJ,

    These are great questions!

In 无 影 螳 螂 拳 Wuying Tanglangquan (Shadowless Praying Mantis Fist) we emphasize speed as the first skill. Hence the appellation, "shadowless".

Power, strength and qi are all very important, but it is speed and timing that are the vehicles that deliver them to the opponent.

We start out practicing the forms and drills very slowly. Precision and economy of motion are emphasized.

As the student progresses fa jing is introduced into the movements and all movements are practiced on the wooden man and focus mitts.

After the student can demonstrate an ability to focus and apply his power, speed is emphasized. By this time the student should have executed enough repetitions for muscle memory to begin setting in. The ability to strike without extraneous conscious effort helps the student to gain more and more speed.

Once the student has developed a good sense of distance and timing, as well as how to set up the opponent for an attack through sparring and self defense training, we believe that speed will seal the deal.
