    Chinese Professor Ad

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTSQozWP-rM

Get a load of this latest ad. It started making the rounds during the election and is obviously tailor made for all of the racist and ignorant Tea Baggers out there. The message is so confusing and ironic that you would have to be a completely mis-informed dumb@ss to think the Center Against Government Waste were credible at all. Perhaps that's what they're counting on.

It's supposedly set in Beijing in the year 2030, after China has somehow managed to dominate the U.S. economy. This professor asks his class, "Why do great nations fail?" and after comparing us to the Roman Empire and the British Empire, he rattles out a list of reasons. These seem to correlate with Obama's tactics for getting us out of the colossal mess that GW Bush and his cohorts handed us after he stepped down (whoever doesn't think his administration was to blame needs electro-shock therapy). After telling his students that "America tried to spend and tax itself" (an epithet used to enrage conservatives) out of the recession, he mentions our "enormous stimulus spending." Really, this is why we'll fail? I guess they're assuming nobody's up on the latest news. After China's initial stimulus package of $586 billion back in 2008 and $1.4 trillion in stimulus money lent from China's state-owned banks, their economy expanded by 8.7% in 2009 and 9.6% in the third quarter of 2010. Leaving this country in the dust (GDP growth for the U.S. was 2% in the 3rd quarter of 2010) after our much smaller $700 billion dollar stimulus package. So...how does stimulus spending not work? Why would a Chinese professor be saying that if it obviously worked for their country?

Then he mentions "massive changes to healthcare." Nearly all major medical facilities in China are run by the government. They overhauled their system back in 2005 to make healthcare more affordable to the rural poor. By 2007, 80% of the rural population was covered. That's 685 million people! A number greater than the entire population of the U.S., which now has about 47 million people lacking healthcare coverage. And John Boehner said we have "the best healthcare system in the world"!! "The best" for who, rich people? How is it "the best"? And, once again, why would a Chinese professor in 2030 say that overhauling healthcare was a mistake?

Going into how the Chinese professor saying that "government takeovers of private industries" doesn't make sense seems pointless, since most of the state-owned companies in China are giants and are heavily subsidized. The country is less Communist than it used to be, but it's still a hell of a lot more socialist than we are. So why would he point this out as having been one of our major flaws when they've outdone us using this same strategy?

The ad's just ridiculous. The professor finally mentions our "crushing debt" and how they own it and now we work for them. Well, what administration started borrowing and spending us into this hole? Do I even need to say? What administration decided to invade Iraq for no reason? Maybe if this country hadn't been spending over 20% of it's budget on its military, we would have had the kind of capital China had to pay for our debt.

On a final note, the ad is prejudiced against Chinese people. In the eyes of the racist white Americans who believe in this kind of bull****, China is defined not only by its system of government, but by its people. It's as if the advertisers were trying to say, "Look at the evil Chinese boogeymen! They're going to enslave you! Run for the hills!!" It's effective advertising for racist Tea Baggers. Don't they realize that they are the reason we fail?

Oh boy, another liberal playing the race card.

Let's look at some election results from Nov 2:

"In New Mexico Susana Martinez was elected as the first woman Hispanic governor.

Nikki Haley, whose parents were born in India, will be the first woman governor in South Carolina and Brian Sandoval became Nevada's first Hispanic governor.

Tim Scott will be the first black Republican congressman from South Carolina since the post-civil war reconstruction era in the 1860s-70s.

In Florida Allen West is the first black Republican elected to Congress from Florida since a former slave served two terms in the 1870s.

Jamie Herrera became the first Latino congressman from Washington state.

But he noted that almost all the victorious Republican minorities were elected in majority-white areas and opposed measures such as comprehensive immigration reform."

All of the above candidates were Republicans.

Will you liberals now stop playing the race card and actually debate policy, or is that just too much to ask?

So why did both of you bring race into the discussion?

After all, race wasn't brought up in the ad, was it?

Because race was used in the piece. Yes it was used through implication and strong inference.

lol, "stretching the limits of credulity"...

So it wasn't used in the ad, correct?

Some people just can't help it, they see racism everywhere. And where they don't see it, they bring it up themselves

If people would stop making race baiting political ads, then maybe it wouldn't come up. Bigotry is still a huge problem.

um do you really need to be beaten over the hammer with a message before you understand it.

You can't possibly be that stupid can you that you fail to see the obvious undertones in this ad. YES IT WAS USED IN THE AD. What could possibly make that clearer to you besides going back in time, being reborn and getting an actual education that isn't tainted with a bunch of crap neo-con rhetoric?

    lol

man, if yo can't see the race angle in that commercial, why do you even bother talking?

You are a ridiculous excuse for a debater. lol

again you ask and again I tell you yes, race was used in the commercial, explicitly and implicitly there was a racial message and that message was that the race of asian(specifically chinese) people, own the nation of american people.

get it yet? or do I need to post the transcript for the ad here and then send you back to grade 9 to complete your education so that you can actually understand what an implication is, what an inference is and how that ties to making direct statements while having deniablility towards gross culpable affronts.

You can't possibly be so thick that you could not see that the entire audience was of one race communicating about the failure of one nation and how that failure is to the advantage of that race of people. The Chinese.

do you deny that? If so, I guess you need to watch it over again until you finally understand. Not sure with all the lead bars you seem to be eating lately though. lol
