    RIP Master Joel Rodgriguez

It is with great sadness that I just was informed of the death of my classmate in the Ying Jow Pai School- Master Joel Rodriguez.

It is unknown of the cause beyond his last posting on his FB page that he was under the weather with and would not be able to teach class this past weds. He mentions that it has been 11 years since he was so ill he couldn't teach a class.

My condolences go out to his family (brother, Uncle & Aunt) and to my Sifu and classmates who have shared a very tight family bond.

    Greetings..

Joel was a fellow judge at Nick Scrima's ICMAC Tournaments, and a joy to be around.. always the playful prankster, always warrior within.. Journey well, brother.. Condolences to the family and the community..

    Respectfully..

I still remember that I met him in Taiji Legacy every year. He was a nice friendly guy and fun to be around. It's very sad indeed. He was still young

This is shocking news my Sifu was talking with him last week.
    May he rest in peace.

I am sorry to hear he passed so quickly.

Prayers to him, his clan and all who ever crossed his path.

    Shocking

I didn't know Joel well, but we had chatted at Legends of Kung Fu. My condolences. He struck me as a good man and an earnest practitioner.

May they find the strength they need to deal with this loss and be comforted in the knowledge that he will live on in their memories of him.

Here's a post I wrote about this: The Wulin suffers a great loss/.

It looks like there will be a "public"/"local" memorial for him sometime in the coming weeks. I personally miss Joel and would like to join with brothers/sisters of the martial arts to commemorate the inspiration he was and his life.
Yes, "Northwind" is my internet alias used for years that has lots to do with my main style, as well as other lil cool things - it just works. Wanna know my name? Ask me

Can't believe its been a whole week since I was notified of my classmates death. the news is that he died of a aneurysm. But what is sad is that he was alone during the holiday and perhaps .....

From what I've been told this is very hard to diagnose. here is a site with some info: https://health.google.com/health/ref/Aneurysm

there will be a memorial service on Dec 18 in Piedmont Park

for more info you can send a message to his senior student Ian Karkaria who has been coordinating

St. Jude Tribute to Joel Rodriguez

In honor of the many charity fund raising events Master Joel Rodriguez did, St. Jude has put together a tribute page where you can read and make comments etc.

Best of all we can donate money to this worthy charity in his name. this is great as its the holiday season and children are involved.

    check it out:
