Gene, can you tell me about the form Rhea did? I found it to have a lot of movements that are unique and interesting.

    That was the Shaolin compulsory

    See our compulsory thread here.

Technically, it should have been DQed, as it's not truly a traditional form as stipulated by our rules, but as we had so few competitors this year, we allowed it.

The Songshan Shaolin Championship goes on hiatus in 2015

For the 2015 Tiger Claw Elite KungFuMagazine.com Championship, the Songshan Shaolin Championship will not be held. We congratulate our past champions.

    2011: Yang Chengjun qixingquan
    2012: Yang Chengjun taizhuquan
    2013: Chris Shepherd tamozhang
    2014: Ryu Eguchi dahongquan

This event may return in the future. This year, Push Hands is returning after a year hiatus. We shall see.

The Songshan Shaolin Championship, alongside the WildAid Tiger Claw Championship, has been my personal pet projects at the Tiger Claw Elite KungFuMagazine.com Championship. For 2015, I am turning my attention to a new pet project, the 1st Drunken Style Championship. Thank you all for your continued support.

    Cheers Orion Paximus!

I'm tempted to move your post here, just to get the conversation flowing on this (pun intended) but it's funnier here.

    The Songshan Shaolin Division

The 10th Tiger Claw Elite KungFuMagazine.com Championship is adding a new division this year, the Songshan Shaolin Division, which is exclusively for practitioners of Shaolin Kung Fu currently taught as part of the common curriculum at the original Shaolin Temple on Songshan (Song Mountain) today. This is in the tradition of the Songshan Shaolin Champion, the Showcase Championship that was held at the Tiger Claw Elite KungFuMagazine.com Championships from 2011 to 2014. For 2018, this is its own unique division, just like Traditional Kung Fu or Modern Wushu, complete with age and gender divisions and Grand Champions. The Advanced Grand Champions can compete against Traditional Kung Fu or Modern Wushu for the Overall Grand Championship title. The Songshan Shaolin Division serves the ever-growing community of Shaolin schools in the San Francisco Bay Area connected to the Shaolin Temple, as well as the expanding community worldwide.
