    Mantis Origins

Where do you think Northern Praying Mantis Originated?

Was it at the Shaolin Temple in Mount Song?
Was it at a subsidiary (xiayuan) Shaolin Temple?
Was it at a non-Shaolin Buddhist Temple?
Was it at a Temple (Buddhist or Taoist) on Mount Laoshan?
Was it at a some other Taoist Temple?
Was it at of secular origin in Shandong?

    Why?

Incubated in Taoist temple(s) on Laoshan in Shandong, but raised in secular caravan escourt services.

Honestly, I don't think there will ever be historically verifiable proof, only speculation and best guesses.

I can't answer the above question. However, one of our posters here once said that the Chinese government had confirmed that Shen Xiao was the Abbot of Yun Hua temple in Cha County, Shandong. Unfortunately, I don't have the poster's name in my notes. Perhaps they will see this and take credit for it.
