    learning the arts

it is more important to be good at a few things

    than dabbling in so many

    xue yi zai jing

    bu zai duo

    学艺 在精 不在多

    常此已往

    it was like this before

    it is like this now

it will be like this in the future

it is so in the past, at the present and in the future.

    tai zu men

    there are northern and southern.

actually, there are many more schools calling themself

    great ancestor

from first emperor of song dynasty

    song tai zu

    ---

    shaolin tai zu

    --

there are over 100 open hand forms and weapons

    learning all of them

    wow.

Yes, indeed. It is very fun to learn all these forms but I personally do not practice or like to practice any shaolin style and so I don't do shaolin tai jo forms. There is a lineage called "Tai Jo Moon" actualy and that is what I am doing. There is also a Tai Jo Six Section Boxing Fist which I have not upload yet but is' super cool to do, easy, fun and quick moving!

The target audience for kungfu now can be divided in a few types, some like the combat side, some enjoy the forms, some enjoy the health benefits, it's all good, but in all different ways.

Doing many forms is not easy but also not hard, it is good to train your brain to remember things all the time and so it's a good exercise for your brain as well while your body get the workout. If you cannot remember all of it, why not video record them down and you can always reference back later on. You do not have to remember it all the time, some you don't do alot can be put aside. When you like to do it in the future, just review your own video and you will be able to do it again anyway. It's like reading a book, you can read it again later on from page one too!

As someone whose kung fu sucks in a superlative fashion I feel supremely qualified to recognize kung fu suck.

You sir, your kung fu SUCKS!

My god you are horrible. Your hands are uncoordinated, eyes unfocused, your 身法 is garbage and you step like a retarded geisha. Your execution has no intent or power.

To your credit you do not seem to have the typical Kung Fu Inferiority Complex, thankfully sparing us the incessant whining about the primacy of Chinese martial arts.

Albeit the lack of a Kung Fu Inferiority Complex diagnosis is clearly due to some other more malicious pyschopathology.

still, there are few interlopers and most are easily identified.

Mind you, @ wenshu, this fella has stated time and again he is not about Kung Fu, it's something he does. he doesn't offer courses in rbsd or make claims to be a kung fu sifu beyond the context of his Taoist exorcism and personal pursuit and sharing.

    so meh.

as much time as you wasted telling him he sucks, I will spend telling you that it doesn't matter.

    also, love IS the answer.
Kung Fu is good for you.

Is everyone in Canada this obtuse?

    Apparently the self-deprecating preface wasn't enough of a clue. . .

I used to practice and learn all the mantis forms there are on the planet

    in late 1970s.

however, I eventually only kept 48 single postures that I like

I practice them one by one and not strung as another form.

some has nice entering and qin na

    some has throw

    most of them have kicks.

7 star has over 500 forms

taiji mei hua has a few

6 harmony only has single digit forms

and reduce them or keep only the ones that I like

what is a self-defacating pre-face? Is that some sort of koan?
    I scream, "KOAN!"
"My Gung-Fu may not be Your Gung-Fu.
    Gwok-Si, Gwok-Faht"

"I will not be part of the generation
    that killed Kung-Fu."

    ....step.

    there is a legend

that a tribe of people trying to chase or run after the sun

    it is called kua fu.

    --

there are so many forms out there just like stars in the sky, or sands on the beach

yes there are star chasers and sun chasers

    --

but do you know that if you stay put, the sun will rise and catch up with you the next day

    --

    something to think about

kua fu chasing after sun, eventually die of dehydration and exhaustion
