When i first moved into a school where the majority of the people were white, the Rockers (stoners) were the ones to wear the bell bottom jeans, dirty metallica shirts, and steel toe boots. Now those were dudes that wanted to hurt people hahaha

Gah, that stuff makes me cringe every time I see it!

Seriously, you've got to have some big balls to even want to train that.

    Shinjo Sensei uechi ryu breaking.

There are a few clips of him on it and he is quite the specimen.
He breaks board with toe kicks, with finger tips, with thumb joint, with wrist, breaks bats with shins and with forearms, etc.

Chou Jiao specializes in the Toe kick.

    Ancient Chuo Jiao (3of4)

You can see halfway through the video that they are really kicking with the ball of their foot.

As for Cresent kicks, you can kick with the heel...

Any kick that required me to condition the part of the foot that made impact was quickly tossed aside. I consider it to be less than favorable. The outside edge of the foot and the heel can take a lot of impact and not hurt. A toe kick would work ok if you didn't kick something bony or real hard. And of course unless you were fighting in a ring you would be wearing shoes of some sort.
When I was a kid, it was pretty common to glue a single edged razor blade into the front, outside edge of the shoe. You could glue it in deep enough that you had only 1/8 to 1/4 inch of blade exposed. That 1/8 inch could mean the difference in a charge of criminal assault and murder. If a gang approached you, and if they were standing or walking close together, you pretty much had a fight on your hands. But if they were keeping a distance between themselves, you were in for serious cutting. They didn't usually try to kill you, but would try to hamstring you with a foot sweep.
