Chinese Animation Studio Brings Kung-fu Cooking Girls To YouTube

China’s animated films don’t often get much attention, with anime-nation Japan sitting right next door enjoying most of the global spotlight. But every now and then we’ll catch a glimpse of some brilliant work emerging from the middle kingdom, and in recent years it usually comes in the form of an online video.

That’s the case with a new film called Kung Fu Cooking Girls, a short film that ingeniously combines three things that most men love: beautiful women, Chinese food, and kung fu. I know. This cannot possibly fail, right?

The film was created by a small Chinese animation studio named Wolf Smoke. They describe the 8-minute short thusly:

Kung Fu Cooking Girls is a short story, we made it for testing new cartoon style and method of the way of making movies. We did key frames on paper first then used vector software to do the between frames and color painting. This is the first time that we use this way to do stuffs. Over 4000 key frames hand drawing and over 10,000 betweens in this movie.

As we write this, the film has just passed 100,000 views on YouTube. That hardly gives it ‘viral’ status, but it did catch the eyes of the folks over at Twitch Film, one of world’s most popular film websites. That’s certain to bring the studio some positive attention.

Check out Kung Fu Cooking Girls for yourself below. I should warn you that it might not be safe for work, due to some intense dumpling jiggles and a momentary nip-slip.
