I am not responsible for promoting this competition in the US, so their are maybe some questions I cant answer, but as far as I can I try my best.

Concentrating on forms. Its about doing the forms not in a performance way for good looking, instead showing the characteristic a Traditional Form should develop, like rooting, develop power through the hole body or depending on system empty chest or using power through the Back.

how is this traditional

Its traditional because you should show all the characteristics the form should pose. The judges who are all longtime Gung Fu practitioners are there to guarantee that, also teachers from the specific Martial Art will help.
Experience has shown thats not that simple for contestants that they do it not good looking instead doing it fully concentrated as they been taught. Also to come to the point where mind and body walk as one.
