I have a jow formula that calls for snakeskin and snake blood.
What kind of snake? Can I use snakes from the pet store? Or a garter snake?

snake blood is useless and there is nothing in any materia medica that I have that suggests using snake blood. its a myth, have heard of it but there is nothing traditionally taught that mentioned using snake blood.

snake skin on the other hand is used for wind, and opening the channels of the body.

Most used the Bai Hue She which is a type of Pit Viper that lives in Asia.

Here is this country you can use copperheads, rattlesnakes, any member of the pit viper family.

I sell snake skin. It is called She Tui.

Let me know how I can be of service.

    Almost right.

To think of wonderful, beautiful snakes, dying, just to go to make hocus pocus oil. Aya!

Did it also call for "eye of newt" and "wing of bat" ???

I've never heard of using snake skin or snake blood in jow...then again people put all kinds of stuff in "traditional remedies"

I will never use Tiger Bone.

You can use other bones from other non endangered animals.

Snakes are good for channel opening, as well as getting rid of wind, which is what Chinese Medicine views tremors/shaking/palsies.

ok, but you can say the same thing about eating animals, and before you know it, you're forcing your cat to eat a vegan diet.
I have no problem with using snake or bear, or bone of non-endangered species (such as vegans) in my jow.

Well, I don't eat animals - or have a dog. Having said that, I don't have a problem with people eating animals. An animal is killed, it gets eaten - that's the way of the world. An animal gets killed to put in a magic potion - there's just something so needless about that.
