    Yuan Gong Ape Skill Boxing

Hello . Somebody know something about this Monkey System ? I want to know if is a separate Monkey Style or belong to the Tong Bei Quan family systems . I 'd saw a tape and is a really cool fighting style . All fighting applications looks like very real and effective .

    Some examples of this style on Chinese Video Sites;

If you look after the half way point in each he demonstrates some applications.

If you type this in on the various chinese sites you can find quite a lot of amatuer videos of this same style; 猿功拳

Contains a fair bit of Detang moves (Moves from lying on the floor),

There are some similarities between the above and Monkey boxing.

However, traditional monkey boxing (猴 拳 - houquan):

    1. Doesn't have as strong of an emphasis on long arm movements as ape boxing (猿 拳 - yuanquan).
    2. Uses much more compact stances than ape boxing.
    3. Has a more equal blend of hand and foot techniques (four hands theory) than ape boxing.
    4. Emphasizes the quick and short over the hard and long. Yes, this is different than my first point.

Yuangongquan does remind me of some of the Tongbeiquan that I have seen. It looks like a very interesting style. Thanks for posting the clips!

There are two types of Chinese martial artists. Those who can fight and those who should be teaching dance or yoga!

53 years of training, 43 years of teaching and still aiming for perfection!

Nothing is effective without proper timing and proper energy transfer, jumping around swinging your arms is fine, but unless you can do it at the right time and at the proper distance with maintain proper balance and body control, nothing just works and still defend yourself from him hitting you.

    even thou you see

big steps and big arm moves

but when you release or express power

it is a short distance and grinding or stomping sudden outburst of power

    it is a short power.

    da pi da gua

large pi large gua but small chan or xiao chan

tong bei and pi gua are considered long arm or full arm boxing methods

actually sun bin fist is even longer

you shake your long sleeves out

so it is longer than your arm
