    A thread

    1) Most ip practitioners don't do demos or breaks.
    2) Most ip practitioners spend time between doing other things doing ip
    3) Most ip practitioners don't(and couldn't/shouldn't) spend hours doing ip
    4) Taiji for health comes from the taiji combat system
    5) The combat taiji system is generally taught as combat
    6) A translation of "chi" as "energy" without further expounding that the matter-energy divide in western thought does not dominate in Chinese thought, so that it becomes a physical-energetic descriptor, makes for boring debate either way.
    7) Internal.
    8) Internal.
    9) Bruce Lee
    10) Dim mak.

Some talk here has informed me and changed my practices, but no lecture ever has done as much.

    Good luck in your practice,

1 most people like to talk about hardening their hands, arms and legs to strike

but hardly ever the same group of people talk about having to take punches and kicks.

where is your defense against ip or i-leg, i-elbow, i-knee etc etc

    2. tai ji health benefits come from centering your postures or align your spine naturally, and moving or rotating all of your joints, especialy your waist

    3. ta ji combat system is the opposite of attack and attack only thoughts

it yields, yields and yields. and yields and then follows

    you come i welcome

you go i send you home.

in postures, hand moves, steps and power wise.

    4. I do not do iron crotch, iron head or iron anything

5 I do moderate hardening and conditioning

and some moderate taking shots or self hitting.

most like to talk about they may deliver some heavy punches and kicks

but hardly ever any one would like to talk about they can take how much or how many heavy punches and kicks.

    end of rant.

Like a medicine ball, to hopefully be able to take a hit, but best avoid the hits where you can't.

Instead of yield, it's better to lead your opponent into the emptiness. Also, you come I welcome, you go I won't let you go (because I'm going to eat you alive). When an octopus wraps around a fish, that fish is not going anywhere.

This is why I have always believed that Taiji is just too conservative for my taste.
