Wing Chun Mother Stance Body Mechanics

    Hi All,

Here are three short clips showing some of the detail developed/trained at the beginning with in my Wing Chun line.

I would really be interested to hear if this is similar to other peoples practice and also how perhaps other schools practice this differently.

I sincerely hope this can spark a positive conversation.

    Kind Regards

    Mike

I watched the first one. 28 minutes for all three is a bit much to ask for a first post, I suggest.

We use a parallel foot or front stance. The "grippng"of the ground is done by "screwing" the feet into the ground, activating adductors, hamstrings, quads and the muscles around the hip.

The sequence of opening the stance is completely different to my lineage.

I do not pull/push the elbows in in this stance, rather the fist is away from the body and elbow pulled back with a slight stretch in the pec to open up the lung. Elbow position is developed via the forms and drills, and no one (hopefully) fights with their fists near their armpits anyway.

Different to what I do. That is not a criticism.
