Sports Science Measurements of Striking Power

Sports Science does these estimates of how hard strikes are using an accelerometer inside a bag. They claim that guys are delivering over 2500 lbs of force with their punches and over 3000 lbs of force with their kicks. Does anyone else think that these numbers might be calculated incorrectly? I don't think that the joints and bones can handle that level of force for even a split second.

    Edit:
I think that the numbers work for comparison purposes, but I think that they may be flawed in terms of an absolute sense.
