How have I not seen this video before? The excitable lady just adds to the comedy of the situation with her commentary about "unacceptable" violence. Oh dear poor Kung fu guy. I've said it before and I'll say it again: you get better at fighting by actually fighting.
Kung fu guy looks like he's rarely, if ever, had a real fight. The average guy who has been a few bar fights is likely to win against most martial arts hobbyists cos nothing beats experience. The reason most MMA guys would batter most other guys in a real fight is cos MMA involves a lot of sparring and you can only absorb lessons about timing, range, distance etc. by getting smacked in the face a few times.
Its all well and good talking about empty stance being used to move fast if you've never tried to use it when someone launches a chopping kick at your thigh. Its lovely to talk about bridging if you've never actually tried to do it to someone who is using full force to try and brake your bridge and smash your face in. Kungfu guy went for a hip throw and got all his angles wrong which is clear evidence that he'd never tried to do this against a resistant opponent.
As it seems a wonderful time for a Bruce Lee comment I'll say the moral of this story is: "boards dont hit back".
wearing a kung fu jacket on the subway then getting video taped getting your ass kicked. doesn't get more embarrassing then that. spanish girl in the green hoody is cute though.

Eh, I wouldn't say he gets "destroyed". He got hit a few times because that weird old lady/man got between them. The hands or arms crossed posture is more indicative of a non-threatening posture, sometimes suggested (not necessarily a good idea) in law enforcement. He pushed the guy back a bit because the guy was apparently making threatening statements and he might have reasonably felt that the lady was in some danger.
So, he got hit a few times and was unsuccessful in sweeping the guy. I'd attribute this more to just being an unpredictable situation. Sweeping/throwing in a cramped area like that is generally a bad idea. I think this guy is more of an MMA-wannabe who's dressed like a TCMA wannabe. That cramped of an area its a bad idea to go to throws/takedowns, when your opponent can just brace himself against whatever wall/furniture is nearby. If the guy was an actual kickboxer, he'd have faired far better--he'd be throwing a punch output more similar to his opponent.
Regardless, I gotta hand it to anyone who puts themselves into harm's way to protect someone. This guy could have had a knife or worse. We're sitting here on the internet criticizing him from the safety of our computers. Who knows how the fight might have gone if they had a bit more time to go? The frog-button wearer took a good cheap shot on the chin and recovered. Good for him.
