Thread: Is this a real form?

    Is this a real form?

Is this a real Shaolin form? or is it some kind of Shaolin Do/Temple Kung Fu/Simon intergalactic celestial master thing?

It looks empty, and all arms to me, like some sort of Kempo trying to be Kung Fu. If it's real it's performer has no soul.

If it is somehow a real form, the guy performing it doesn't know what he's doing. The most obvious point to me is that he's not using any of his body (waist, hips, shoulders, anything) to generate power outside of his arms.

Also, calling any bad kung fu "kempo" really isn't fair to kenpo. I mean, there's some guys out there doing kempo that really need to hit. Of course, there are just as many that don't, but the same can be said of any martial art.

If I'm not totally mistaken, it's Ark Y Wong's stuff.

I've seen a Lohan hands form that had movements.... similar... to that, but that was not well performed, if that is what it was.

    Looks related to Wing Chun.

Maybe he's performing it in such a "soulless" way because it's for online teaching and he wants the movements to be extremely distinct. It's very easy to see exactly what he's doing fwiw.

I agree it looks very empty.

Do a search for his name. It's not hard to find out who Ark Wong was.

By asking I'm also kind of curious what people think of him too.

    Real Form

It is the Butterfly form from Ark Wong, somewhat modified. Unfortunately this person lacks understanding of the form.

Correct, here is another example of the form

As a side note, Ark Wong's 5 Family kung fu was one of the styles that greatly influenced Ed Parker's kenpo so it is an interesting observation.

Also, note at the bottom of the video clip, it is a clip to get you to go to their website to "learn kung fu online".

That should tell volumes about the quality right there.

    Another Butterfly Example

Yet another poor example of Five Family arm flailing. All empty. The online course is a joke.
