    Jerry Poteet Jeet Kune Do

    I just wanted to show the JKD I have done:

    There are actually glimpses of me in here, but I won't tell.

    @ 1:48 he mentions looking at the eyes or looking at the chest. I prefer looking at the chest cause i can take in a bigger picture. plus, the eyes deceive you anyways, cool, i see some of the same drills we do.

    How bout you guys?

    what's cool is how even though he's getting on in years, u can clearly tell by his bearing, by his demeanor, etc., that he regularly is on the mat working with everyone, beginners through advanced;

    I have always looked at the chest and center line to get a peripheral vision of the entire body. It helps to pick up on things such as shoulder movement before a punch is thrown or foot movement and chamber before a kick is thrown. Also, nice vid Fa Xing. Looks like good instruction and a good place to train.

    I tend to look (or look through) at the chest/solar plexus, and I've never really agreed with the eyes thing, it has been too easy for me to be tricked that way.

    Yes, Sifu Jerry and Ed Monaghan both get out there. Trapping and Chi Sao work with Sifu Jerry is like trying capture air, he's just not there.

    I never understood the supposed division in JKD, how some people have issues with other peoples expression of JKD.
    If BL was alive today he would be thrilled that people were expressing THEIR JKD in their own way.

    Had Bruce survived I think we'd have witnessed some interesting manifestations as his gung fu matured.

    Yeah, all good points.

    Well, the division doesn't really exist these days, at least not amongst the actual guys who studied under Bruce. However, a lot of third and fourth generation students like to keep it going.

    I used to be in both camps, but I could care less now, and worry more about improving and my "daily decrease" you could say.

    I like Sifu Jerry's stuff because it's very simple yet you could spend years working on it and feel like there so much more to do.

    I also train on rare occasion with Tim Tackett's WNG guys.

    Awesome group as well.

    The important thing to note about JKD is that he modified and absorbed (as opposed to adding) it into his structure.
