    upper body strength, isometric way

    I'd like people to share with me their favourite and thoughts on upper body excercises ... I'm more interested in 'traditional' training methods (anyone know what the monks used to do ?) and isometric stuff rather than weights, etc.

    Anything, esp obscure excercises would be appreciated.

    pushups are awesome. In class we do another exercise called iron buffalos that work the hell out of your shoulders. For isometric exercises, your sifu should know some dynamic tension exercises, and you might want to check into the book "Dynamic Strength" by harry wong.

    I know that traditional hindu wrestlers would preform hindu squats (betheks) and hindu push-ups (dands). Check this page:
