I originally posted this in our Shaolin Medicine Thread. I'm making this new thread to see if it gets more traction. If not, I'll merge this back into the Medicine thread.

    It's a pretty cute video.
I especially like the line, "Focusing the mind by training the body to do the impossible." (though obviously 'impossible' is a gross exaggeration) One of the greatest things about studying Shaolin, to me, is that by default the training is not just about combat.

Phoenix Suns forward Mickael Pietrus has sought what one might consider unconventional methods to treat his right knee injury. Pietrus missed the last 12 games of the NBA season, and did not play for France in EuroBasket or pursue overseas opportunities this summer, because of the injury.

Pietrus traveled to the Shaolin Temple in central China's Henan Province, where he tried “several traditional Chinese medicine therapies, including acupuncture, massage and some unique remedies administered by Shaolin monks,” the Chinese site What’s In Xiamen reported.

Shaolin Temple, a Buddhist monastery, has had its own hospital for over 1,000 years, according to the report.

Shaquille O’Neal has also sought treatment there.

Pietrus returned to France this week before completing all the therapy, but said he was no longer experiencing pain in his knee and that he was ready to resume practicing soon.

A US delegation headed to China with NBC Dateline three years ago lead by Josue Almonte, investment banker Richard Davimos, his son Scott Davimos of the Reserved Club and Boston Celtic Mickael Pietrus. The delegation went to meet the head of the Australian Shaolin Foundation Patrick Pang and the “Pope” of the Shaolin Temple the Abbot. They discussed the principles of Cha’n Zen Meditation, the ancient roots that have never left the grounds of the Shaolin Temple, the desire to take “Temple Tea” and the “Shaolin Word” worldwide. Shaolin Temple has over sixty million followers and for the first time is hand picking its partners to extend the brand outside of China.

Josue Amonte and Richard Davimos of The Reserved Club has paved the way for partners like Susan Maria Leach will be able to create co-branded products and exclusive visits to the Temple for foreigners. The Shaolin Temple has recently hired international lawyers to protect the brand name. It is the first time that the organization has focused on protecting its trade name.
