Wink Do you, Kung Fu? (In Vancouver, BC)?

    Hey everyone,

Just wanted to see if there was anyone else in Vancouver, BC, that practices Kung Fu.
I am currently taking 7-Star Northern Praying Mantis classes, and would love to hear from anyone else around the area and what style you know
I came out of a Cave.
    I stole a Peach.
I peeped at a feast over there......and over there.....

No, not surprised at all. Jon Funk is the most popular 7 star guy around here. Just confirming my suspicions, that's all.

One of my students Jeff Cunduff is in Vancouver. He holds 3rd degree black belt in SC, and a good medical doctor too.

This was one of his clip that was taken about 25 years ago.

    I see.
He's right down the street from me so its convenient. Crazy too because when I decided to take martial arts again I wanted to take Kung Fu (and I've always been a fan of Praying Mantis style) and ironically for a few months after I moved to the west end I was unaware he was right down the block! I stumbled on it by accident, so I figured why the hell not! So far its been a really good experience. I know Jon Funk has taken some flak on this site (as I said I snooped here before I joined ) but in my opinion he does a fine job. With that said I've nothing to compare it to except my brief Jiu Jitsu training a decade ago.... apples and oranges.....

west end, between english bay and coal harbour, near denman and robson. He teaches at the Joe Fortes Library. I thought he used to teach in kits though, or still does, not sure. Dude seems to have a really busy schedule though
Do you take classes, teach classes, black belt, sifu, master? Sorry, just really curious and trying to expand my social network here. Have only lived in Vancouver for a year now, haven't made a ton of friends (hence my thread hahaha)

Nah, I just asked cause a lot of people mean the west side when they say the west end. I dunno if jon funk ever taught in kits.

I used to go to king george to play ball, thats the high school that's right there by the library.

Sweet! Is there a lot of people on this forum from Vancouver? I know there is some material on here of people that have taken Sifu Funk's class or have some affiliation with it, but all the posts I've been scouring over the last few days are from '02-'06, haven't really seen anything recent. And All the links to videos and pics and stuff that I really want to see are all 404 Error's and "User deleted account"
I am really looking for Baag Yune Tou Toe from the WHF line, as I believe that is the exact form I am learning right now....
    oh well...

Nah there are only like 3 of us. Most of the Canadians here are from Ontario. Which makes sense. Ontario is pretty crowded compared to BC.

The first link had no preview to the DVDs

The second link, I have seen that video a million times, and only now realized that is the same form, and I am in no place to judge anyone so don't think this is me just being a d*ck, but that guy is so.....rubbery...you know? I just didn't recognize the motions, crazy how much it can look different just by changing whether you flow or pop

And the third link didn't work, but I have seen the Brendan Lai one, and recognized it right away, he 'pops' in the form, when he strikes, each movement was clear enough (other than being recorded playing on a tv hahaha)

Thanks for taking the time to post the vids, I appreciate the input greatly!
Now.....I am going to get the video editor out and see if I can't put 'Rubber man' in slow mo and get a good look at the movements....
    Later everyone!
