Southern Mantis Spring Power

Hello, I'd appreciate it if somebody could explain to me what "spring power" or spring energy means in Southern Mantis?

Well...that would depend on what was going on at the time but, in a nutshell:
A spring is a coil and it compresses and BAM !! releases energy.
Spring power as applied to striking for example, starts "inside" and is based on the "concaved" structure which is the coiling of the spring that, upon release, explodes the energy unto the target.
Much the same in regards to "defense", in which the opponents energy is received, "coiled and released" back unto him.
Rib power and waist/core power is crucial of course.
Different SPM systems develop this in different ways but they are just different paths to the same goal, not better or worse just different.

I've not heard of spring power. i'm for familiar with "gen" or shock power. Development starts with sarm bo jin and dip gwut gung.

Basically it is a similiar power as the 'silk reeling energy' which results in Fajing, in Taiji Quan.

spring power is also dependent on a "live," hand.
In many cases, when a punch is thrown, and intercepted (block, parry, etc) the hand stops. A live hand must be able to switch directions, change energies, run, flow and continue to strike forward.
This only comes through training, hands-on, with a qualified instructor, who understands the skill, and can transmit it.
