    Jeet Kune Do/Kempo Gloves

Anyone have these or ever train with these gloves:

    http://www.amazon.com/Bruce-Enter-Dr...d_sim_sbs_sg_1

I like that they have velcro instead of drawstrings like the old Jeet Kune Do style gloves. I honesyly dislike a lot of the MMA style training gloves and would like to have something with more padding but the ability to grapple with.

Thanks for any feedback or info anyone can give me.

They are cool, bit like Escrima gloves:

What's wrong with MMA gloves though? Better for grappling. I think you're just hating for the sake of it

    Trash

they do not stand up to even moderate amounts of contact. I thought the same thing 10 years ago and encouraged all of my students to purchase them. I think, though I am not sure, that there must be only one producer of these gloves no matter who retails them. Maybe Gene can shed some light on that. I honestly can not remember if I got them from here or if I got them from C*nt*ry.

The palms tore on EVERYONE's gloves within just a month or two. They actually inhibit grabbing due to the resistance from all the padding built in to them. You CAN grab, just not very well.

IMHO, buy some MMA glove that are classified as 'training' gloves. They have, I think, about twice the padding as a MMA glove designed for competition.

MMA training gloves also have sh**it for padding. It is laughable that they are supposed to dispense like a 16oz boxing glove, which is a lie. Anyway, I would like something with better padding for harder contact while sparring with open hand gloves, which is why I asked. Nothing is going to compare to a good boxing training glove but I hoped these would provide more padding. Thanks for the feedback.

More padding than standard MMA gloves?

These look to have a butt load of padding, too:

that first one is what I had a mental picture of when i suggested a 'training' mma glove.

the kempo gloves just kinda suck all the way around, imho. too bulky for grappling, the extra padding also restricts your grip because you have to pull against the padding to grip, and, as I first said, the suede palm leather is fragile and will tear quickly.

I would stick with MMA gloves, because they just offer more versatility. Plus, JKD people don't even use those kenpo gloves these days, we either use boxing/kickboxing gloves and MMA gloves.

thanks! After seeing the different angles/views-they have way too many seams-which can cut you.
