oh so you are trying to promote some new american way huh? you might get what i'm saying for others as well. do what you do. was just trying to let you know you have them backwards.

you showed mostly chan family couplets. DFW's pic is the same couplets used by all Jeung Hung Sing lineages. DFW is the only chan family member i know of that uses our couplets. I think CLFnoles lineage uses it. but not the chan family. at least i haven't seen it. doesn't matter.

the first one you posted is used by all hung sing schools. most likely due to our triad background. buk sing CLF uses ours too. as im sure you will see clearly, you mixed the wrong couplets with CLF. the couplets you posted are ours....the Hung Sing Fut San lineage.

    here is a close up....

Here is DFW's schools using the Hung Sing couplets

"American Way"? more like western way.

this particular set was requested to be read from Left to Right. Nothing new, alot of schools and even most businesses have their signs reading left to right nowadays.

DFW i believe since he's had multiple teachers representing various factions of CLF has incorporated their specific couplets and poetics into a Harmonious Blend.

    1st picture from DFW school
    2nd from CH residence
3rd from Ancestor Hall (King Mui?)

its becoming a trend to incorporate all the various Sun Toi and altars into one to save on room. Thats one of the reasons why I've seen schools that have inner and outer couplets as well as a Shrine Signboard below the Tong/Kwoon Signboard as well.

    Those LB Couplets are nice.

Curious on how they were made.

Is it wood with a skim coat of plaster then painted?

I've been researching old sign making methods. In china they made a sort of sudo "Bondo" made of pulp fibers along with "pigs blood", etc.
