    Some CLF practicing at home?

I have a wavemaster in my basement, which works well for my kicks and punches, although not as well as a hanging bag. What I want to know, though, is some good training for stuff like conditioning and such. I also need to train my hitting speed, and I need to work on leg strength. I can't buy the wooden dummy like I had hoped I could, though...I don't have money, haha.

Lets get to the point, what are some good ways I can train at home other than my Wavemaster?

Volume two (wallbag form) works really well on a wavemaster.

    Build your own dummy!

I have built three ching jong for a relatively cheap price. You can see pictures on my facebook page of the one currently in progress (see bottom link). I need to update it with more pictures as it is almost done.

You could always get a like minded friend to do some hardening/conditioning drills with you. In my school, we stand in front of each other and alternate in a front stance while hitting with a gwa & kup on each other's arms. You can also do a three hit movement with each transition of Kwan-Kiu, Yeung-kui, Jeet-sao. You can also knock shins together while both of you stand in a Diu-ma stance, and make contact with your lead legs. Apply dit da jow as necessary.

A heavy bag is always a good thing to have in your own training area. I also do iron palm conditioning and made a nifty solid wood stand with a bag. You can start out with it filled with rice, work your way up to mung beans, then something harder like copperhead BBs...but don't do the progression too fast. Do your research. I hope some of these ideas help!

Yea, when I go we usually stand in front of each other and do sam sing 3 star for conditioning, or we change from attacking the partner to defending against him. I love doing that, it's always fun, and the dit da jow feels awesome. I imagine doing gwa and kup would hurt at full power...but that's conditioning, lol. I seriously need a heavy bag, I would LOVE one, I just don't know where to get a good, cheap one. I'll have to ask my sifu about iron palm conditioning.

Also, did you build the Ching Jong from scratch or did you find plans online and use that?

I built the dummy from scratch after getting measurments from people that had one. Check craigslist for used gym equipment. I am sure you can find a good heavy bag for cheap.
