What makes you consider Bak Mei a northern style? There are a good few players out there.

Could be mistaking the 'Bak' (white) for 'Bak' (North). Would be easier to illustrate if I knew the characters for both.

Two provinces make the divide. Henan in the North and Hunan in the south.

I thought the dividing line between north and south was the Yangtze River.

Personally, I don't put a lot of importance on the northern/southern-style division. I've trained in both northern and southern styles, but good kung fu is good kung fu, period. True, there are some general characteristic differences, but there are also some considerable diffences among the different styles in each category, too.

IMO, any CMA styles along the

    - Yellow River are considered as nothern.
    - Yangtze River are considered as southern.

If we draw a line between these 2 rivers, we can divide China in 2 equal parts.

Bak (White - Bai in Mandarin) 白
