    The Spirit of Tea ®

"...incredibly smooth and very complex, bearing rich, smoky vanilla notes, a hint
of honey, and a wonderful orange-y finish that lingers in the back of the throat."
    - San Francisco Chronicle

    Welcome!

Qi Spirits is dedicated to making the finest tea spirits in the world. We use only organic teas by Numi, and hand-selected natural ingredients. We prepare our small-batch liqueurs in the tradition of Old World craft distillers for authentic flavor, balance, and astonishing quality. At Qi Spirits, we believe the art of fine spirits is about the journey, not just the destination.

Qi White Tea Liqueur is handcrafted from a selection of exotic oranges, herbs and spices, and the delicate new buds of white tea. Drink Qi White neat, over ice, and in place of orange liqueurs in classic ****tails like margaritas. Food & Wine Magazine named Qi White one of three "best summer spirits."

Qi Black Tea Liqueur is a seductive spirit craft-distilled from rare fruits, exotic spices, wildflower honey, and cedar-smoked tea, with a long smooth finish that enchants both body and mind. Drink Qi Black neat, on the rocks, and in exotic ****tails. However you choose to enjoy Qi Black, may it bring the spirit of tea to your day.

    About Qi Spirits

Qi Tea Liqueurs are a modern, Bay Area response to the millennia-old tradition of medicinal herbal liqueurs. Sitting at the center of a rich culinary tradition that bridges East and West, we bring the extraordinary variety of tea to the world of distilled spirits. We spent three years tasting through hundreds of teas, herbs, fruits and spices before arriving at our unique and exotic flavor profiles. All the goodness of tea is retained through our secret distilling process.

Throughout history, the development of herbal liqueurs was influenced by trade in botanicals along the Spice Road. Qi Black marks the beginning of that historical path, using Lapsang Souchong tea from the far east of China, artfully blended with exotic herbs and spices. The second bottling, Qi White, takes us West, blending delicate white tea from China with a selection Mediterranean oranges, including bergamot, a fragrant citrus that grows on the the Ionian coast of Italy.

Qi Spirits is a partnership between Master-Distiller Lance Winters and entrepreneur Brian Backus, with John Scharffenberger on the Board and serving as Master Taster. Lance has 15 years experience creating exquisite vodka (revered Hangar One), eau de vie, whiskey, and other craft-distilled spirits, and is a partner in St.George Spirits, where Qi liqueurs are produced. Brian is a businessman and artist who fell in love with craft-distilled spirits on a two-year fellowship in Europe after college. John, known for his superb palate, is the man behind the rich flavors of both Scharffenberger Sparkling Wines and Scharffen Berger Chocolate Maker.

Qi is distilled and bottled on the edge of the San Francisco Bay at St. George Spirits in Alameda. Qi Spirits has offices in San Francisco.

    Hotei

Our patron saint is Hotei (or Bu-Dai), the deity of contentment, happiness and abundance.

His sack is never empty. It is said that rubbing his belly brings good luck.

In Chinese folklore, Hotei is also the patron saint of bartenders and restaurateurs.

Hence they hide rather than be known as adults.
