    In all seriousness, anyone who has any familiarity with the history of Christianity can't possibly take serious the zealots who preach "doctrinal purity", and that is especially true of groups that showed up some 1700 years late to the party

    Yes, the 2nd adventist movement and the "great disappointment" of the 18whateverit was ( can't recall the exact year), created quiet a few splinter groups that really, REALLY shoudl h ave learned their lesson.
    The JW's being one of them.
    Charles Russel had a good idea, his execution was a bit flawed and those that came after, the likes of Rutherford, Knox and Fred Franz, made a horrific mess of things.

    Sounds like Ronin has this one handled as far as explanations go. I find them to be nice people, but I prefer my own path.
