    My dad is somewhat opposite

Dad had a severe stroke nearly a decade ago. It left him as a severe aphasiac (unable to understand speech or speak). My mom has been his caretaker. He is 84, but was very active up until the stroke, playing tennis, golf, and hiking, as well as doing a ton of yardwork and stuff. He had a fall at the beginning of August, which might have been symptomatic of other issues that have come up in his rehab. He's been under skilled care at a facility ever since.

How is the rest of your family coping?

    Sorry to hear that.

I'm with you. My family is exhausted. It's been a month of many big decisions.

My approach has been to take care of myself so I can take care of others.

All we can do, take one day at a time and deal with what life throws at us.
Its tough, really tough, to be so helpless when a loved one is suffering so much.
